The red color is a bit of a neon red but not in a bad way. The padding is actually quite thick - much thicker than I'm used to in cycling gloves - but not a problem as I typically have wrist and hand pain. The little loop to help you pull them off is not necessary. The wrist adjustment strap is perfect. I was very pleased in the end with these gloves, as I don't often buy personal training items online!
