I bought these for my son's birthday party but we ran out of time to paint these during that time. I put it away to save for another day, and we finally got around to it last week while he was home for a snow day. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of wood, the base of the trains (wheels, magnets, etc.), and paint/brushes that came with it!My son (2) and I had a great time painting them and adding them to his train table collection. They fit perfectly on his standard size wooden train tracks and he is very proud whenever he used his Thomas the Tank Engine train to pull around his "cake train" lol

These are great. Comes with plenty of paint and 2 brushes. Trains are magnetic and fit on regular tracks well. My 3 year old loved them.

Great activity that can be stretched over multiple sessions of painting and then into many hours of play afterwards, Montessori aligned and, to quote my husband, "you never see kids toys of this quality for this price, nice to see people making decent toys for kids who couldn't usually afford them". We received a compatible set of tracks for Christmas this year and my child has yet to get bored of them (or break any!) 9 months later.

My son Loved these for Christmas! But unfortunately some of the taller trains don't fit under some of the bridges that he has from train set. But he still loves it and it's wonderful for little kids to create their own train!

This toy was the best toy I ever made I had to build a track with it and it looked so good but some of the paint came off and that was ok this toy should be a christmas present

I have ordered this item twice now for my son. It has been such a wonderful activity painting them together. The first set he asked his dad and I to help him paint like a real Union Pacific train, which turned out great. This time he painted it himself to look like, as he says, an old rusty abandoned train. He did such a good job! He says it is what his UP train would look when it gets old. We play with both often and they provide hours of entertainment for my train fanatic child. I would highly recommend this as an activity and fun toy for anyone that has a child who loves trains.

My nephew wanted gold colored trains for Xmas last year. Yes...those do not exist in most cases in the typical train set world. So, this aunt got called about making gold trains. And, this aunt used this train set to make them. These are well made and capatible with all the normal wooden train tracks. The paint went on easy, as did the sealer. A year later, they are still in perfect shape (despite being beat up and played with a lot), and still being played with. I didn't use the paint in the pack, so I can't speak to it. The the trains are great!

Orbrium continues to impress us - everything we've got that is an Orbrium product has either been a unique nice item that the bigger named brands don't cover, or if it is directly equivilent to named brand item, Orbrium beats it on both price and quality. No exception here. Not only is this the set for those crafty kids that want to paint their own, but the underlying wood/design fit & finish is as good as any other available. In any brand you can name.This is not a novelty item.

Bought for a christmas gift for my nephew. He loves train and they look like they will stand up to him. Was disappointed that it didn't come with paint like the description said. Deliver was fast and is still a cheaper option to buying the Thomas wooden railway stuff.

I have major plans to turn these into custom Thomas Wooden Railway items.

Perfect birthday present for a train loving five year old. I like using mod podge to seal it after the kid has painted it to protect the paint and make it feel nicer.
