Detailed
It's almost like a regular book but its a dictionary. It's very expanded and explains a lot for someone new to finances. It taught be about a lot that I need to know in the business world and painted a picture that regular dictionaries just leave in the wind after one sentence. Every definition is 1-2 pages long.

The best thing about the book is that the terms are ...
I have five friends who want me to teach them about investing basics; so, I decided to purchase an updated financial terms dictionary to go along with my twenty years of investment experience. The subtitle of the FINANCIAL TERMS DICTIONARY states. TERMINOLOGY PLAIN AND SIMPLE EXPLAINED. I found that to be the truth. Recently, I found myself explaining MARGIN TRADING to one of my friends and, with help from my copy of this book, I was prepared to give her the explanation that she needed. The best thing about the book is that the terms are in alphabetical order; so, you don't have to use an index to find what you need.

Great Resource!
What a great resource! I had actually been through a short sale, but never really understood the process until I read Mr Herold's book. This book is equally valuable to the experienced and the novice reader. I particularly appreciated the easy to use-alphabetical table of contents.

Very basic
I started working in the financial industry this last year and wanted to pick up a book that I could use as a reference for things I run across that I don't know, etc. This book is fine for someone who is a complete beginner. As an example, it defines 'investor' and also has a lot of historical entries like 'the great depression' and 'the internet bubble.' I would say those are historical events not terms. As an example, a very basic concept and term, IIR (Internal Rate of Return) is not mentioned or defined.
