Little Critter and his little sister are stuck in the house on a rainy day, and he has trouble finding an activity to keep him occupied. There is the expected miffed vibe to Little Critter as is seen in so many of these books.. none the things he tries to do works out. The end of the day gets better when dad comes home from work with a truck to replace the one he had broken and a plush rabbit for Little Sister. Nothing sensational or wrong here from my perspective.. it's not like Mercer Mayer wrote about endless complaints and the kids relentlessly begging for toys only for the parents to 'give in' (their dad was at work and didn't even know they had had a bad day). The story is sweet, and the illustrations are excellent. Don't be deterred by negative reviews! It belongs in your Little Critter collection.
