I usually spend about an hour with a flat iron. This tool did my hair in about 15 min. You don't get the completely flat hair but I do get straight hair. I have very thick course, semi curly hair that is medium length. I was able to do my hair and make it look pretty good in a short amount of time. Both I and my roommate use this at least 4-5 days out of the week. My hair is about shoulder-length, thin and slightly wavy, while hers is coarse, extremely thick, kinky and about shoulder length.This little hair straightening brush does a fantastic job of smoothing our hair out and leaving it a nice and full-straight, rather than a paper-thin straight, so it keeps the body and volume in our hair without making it look like a poorly done blow-out. We absolutely love it, and it was well-worth the investment made.Some of the small rubbery protective nubs on the brush have fallen off, but as long as you're not touching your scalp too closely with the brush, it does not affect the effectiveness of this product. I highly recommend it to those with essentially any hair type. I found this brush to be very nice and better than I expected. I have very thin, fine hair, but a lot of it. It dries a little frizzy and with just enough curl to make it not wavy, but not straight and it has no volume, so it looks awful. I loved the idea of a brush that could help me get rid of that wave and give me nice smooth hair.I followed the directions and used the heat recommended for thin hair. It only took a few minutes for the brush to heat up to the desired temperature and then I was able to start brushing through my hair. I found a few things that make it a bit frustrating to use. The on/off button and heat adjustment is on the side of the brush handle, where you would normally grip the brush, but if you grip in the wrong area, it is easy to change the temperature on the brush without really trying to. I moved my hand to the paddle part of the brush, but this area gets quite hot. The brush itself was great and worked well through my hair. It was just the design of the brush that left me feeling frustrated as I had to keep checking to see which button I had accidentally pushed. There is a nice display that clearly shows the temperature and that helped. I would probably give the brush at least a 4 and maybe a 5 if not for that design issue.
