Can I heat this up like a hot oil treatment before shampooing ?

No I don’t think you can , you just run it through your hair after you’ve towel dried it

Does the new formula smell the same as the old one?

I have no idea, but this one smells coconut-like and not too strong, it's nice. I had to give it to my boyfriend (who is black, so has thick and dry afro hair) because this oil is WAY too greasy for me. It takes forever to take off the hair and it doesn't absorb at all...it's totally different to other oils by this brand which I've used for years. Even after washing my hair it still looked like I could fry chips on it! :-D And I didn't use too much of it at all, just a little.

Where in the routine do I use this? Before/ after/ instead of leave in cream ?

I have dry corse hair and use a drop every morning . Usually at the ends of my hair . I Put head upside down and scrunch all the ends . Also use a drop after washing and conditioning when wet . Or when finished drying before using straightening iron . Hope this helps

Most definitely, I do that already & it has already been restoring my hair back from the colour damage.
