In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body." Taking the acronym of this phrase, ASICS was founded on the belief that the best way to create a healthy and happy lifestyle is to promote total health and fitness. Today, ASICS offers a full line of performance-driven athletic shoes and technical active sports apparel and accessories dedicated to bringing harmony to the body and soul.

Asics Women's Gel Strike 3 Running Shoe, Siver/Lightning
I searched for these for a yr. finally found them, because I have a real problem with my feet. One problem is under the ball of my foot when I walk is painful, not with these. I have an extreme wide foot, great comfort there. I have a narrow heel, great there. I have the highest arch more than any women in the world....so these are perfect sneakers. I am 65yrs old and like to walk every day so these sneakers are great. The other Asic models that are models below this for 39.00 are junk, I threw 2 prs. away so beware not to buy the cheap sneakers that cost $39.00 pain pain pain. hope this helps.

toe really hurts
I used to use these as my gym (treadmill) shoes and while they're a perfect fit and awesome for walking, there's not as awesome for running/jogging. My toe area starts hurting and only when I wear these shoes (it's never happened in my nikes or adidas), I feel like all the weight and impact goes into the toe area of the foot. I like the classic look and style of the shoes and just the fit of it overall when I'm wearing them, but I paid my hard earned money for running shoes, not toe-pain-causing shoes. ):

great shoe
This is a smart looking shoe. Great colors scheme. Good fit, a little snug at first, but easy to break in.

Great beginner running shoe!
I ran my first 5K in May and these shoes were wonderful! They are very comfortable, but have good support (I have corpal tunnel in my feet, so support is important). The sole is very flexible and I had no issues with my crazy feet cramping up or anything in these shoes. I would highly recommend to anyone who is starting to run or who has feet issues where support and comfort are paramount! I also love the color =).

Love my pinkies!!!
I had been training for my first half marathon and I was able to get these just in time to break them in. I was nervous about their performance since the reviews were so/so, but I'm just glad I gave them a try and they have been super supportive where needed, very comfy, and super cute too! I always get lots of compliments on my asics that I ended up naming them....lol!!! I love my pinkies!! :)

sizing not true to fit at all
Love ASICS, however this one was a disappointment. Ordered a 9 D and it seemed to be a narrow instead. I thought maybe they sent me the wrong size. They didn't but it definitely was not a wide shoe. Will not order again on line for shoes.

Not as Good as Others
I'm a runner and have been running for years so I didn't just buy the shoe for light walking/ light use.For running, I was being bad and trying to cut corners and save money so I bought this one, which is a pretty basic model. Usually I buy the more expensive Asics (which are great). I've been using Asics for years and they are great shoes though I recently switched to New Balance because they're better on the knees (my knee started to hurt with these, got NB's and now my knee doesn't hurt at all...)I would say if you are a runner, buy the more expensive Asics like the Kayanos or ones you know are good for your feet. It's actually really helpful to go to the shoe store, try some on, and then come to Amazon to get them cheaper. And buy your running shoes a half size bigger because your feet swell when you run.But if you only need things for walking or because you like the look, then they're great. But if you run three or more miles, three or more times a week, buy something that's more high end/ expensive.

Very good value!
Although these are cheaper Asics than most of Asics running shoes, they are great for walking. They are still a Gel shoe and are very comfortable. They compare favorable with my more expensive Asics for walking. I don't know how they would be in comparison for a runner, but for walking they are just fine. Great fit & comfort and less than half as much as higher end Asics.
