its not Janes, but a 2015 or 2016 Janes is over a thousand dollars... it doesnt have pictures of every ship you might run into whilst at sea, but it gives you a good run down on the major navies. it's not going to replace Janes in the pilothouse or CIC, but for your own professional library, its a worthwhile addition.its a decent book with some interesting articles and tables of international naval strength which focuses on the major navies in each region.i didnt think the black and white pictures were that big of a deal... after all, most of the ships are some shade of haze grey anyway.

GOOD AND INTERESTING

I think it's absolutely ridiculous to have black and white pictures in this book. I feel like I'm looking at a book about WW2. I grew up watching a black&white TV........guess what...... I don't miss it.

What would we do without it?Up to date, always has soemnew slant n something - this year's discussion of teh indoenesian Navy was very goodOnly quibble is a couple of charts/diagrams clearly cut & pasted from other sources and reduced to poor definition

As always. Superbly researched and presented overview of the worlds naval forces. Highly recommended - I have purchased every issue printed so far and will continue adding this item to my bookshelf each year

Up to the usual high standard. Great volume if Naval Forces interest you. The information on the Russian Navy is of particular interest. Excellent selection of images.
