--------------------------- Verdict: BUY --------------------------- What people don't tell you about having a baby is that you will go through copious amounts of batteries! Every damn toy, noisemaker, monitor, etc. etc. requires an endless stream of batteries. So it is logical to make the jump to rechargeables (I did) which presents a new challenge, charging the batteries! I selected this Panasonic 'namebrand' product (which I don't normally do) because of two key advantages. The first being that it charges with a Delta-V cutoff to extend the life of your rechargeable Ni-Mh (Eneloop, Amazon Ni-Hm, ect) batteries. Other chargers tend to overcharge your batteries leading to failures and premature wear. The second reason is that this charger will charge batteries individually instead of pairs like most chargers. The thing works great and is definitely a tool you don't want to shortchange yourself on! I bought this charger and a number of AA and AAA Eneloop batteries. It charges both, no problem. And you can mix and match sizes and quantities (charge one AA and two AAAs at the same time, for example). I just wish more devices worked with the Eneloops, smoke detectors for example.

I bought one and after usage I bought 2 more for friends. It is really good.

I have several of these. They charge individually, not in pairs like many chargers that look similar, so they optimize each battery much better and are more versatile than many others in this price range and size. They hold up, too.

Works as it should - charges individual batteries in any combination of 1 to 4 of AA and/or AAA. I no longer have to play around with charging batteries in pairs that come from flashlights that do not take batteries in pairs! I used two of these and charged all my AA and AAA Eneloops. Tried some old... really old Duracell AAA's that I used in a calculator back in 2004-05. Now that I recall the year of purchase, I think they served well and are ready to move on to recycling, which was suggested as well by the charger with 1 AAA charging as normal, 1 blinking at first, but then charging on a second try, and 2 lighting up like Christmas tree lights (on December 25th) on both first and second attempts. I have experience with chargers that came with my cameras and a Duracell 1 or 2 hour charger (I forget). That quick charger liked to burn Duracell high capacity batteries, so it had to be retired. I knocked a star off for capacitor/coil whine when charging, but I do have keen hearing and was not a fan of neighbor's electronic pest control device until they moved, so that is unlikely to be an issue for most.

Got this Panasonic charger for my AA batteries, price was great so I gave it a go. Really satisfied so far, nice quality and works really well with my Eneloop Pro AA Batteries.

Hate this charger. It can only charge one Eneloop Pro at a time. Any time I put a second battery on, it causes them all to flash at me, indicating a battery issue. However all the batteries work fine. It's an issue with the charger. I have two of these and they both have the same issue. Stay away.

I have recently given up on alkaline batteries due to the damage they cause when leaking (and they have been leaking a lot lately). So I bought some AmazonBasics and EBL NiMH rechargeable batteries, and needed a charger for them. After some research, I decided on the Panasonic BQ-17 smart charger. It arrived quickly, and I have been very happy with its performance. I like the fact that each cell is independently monitored when charging. The AAA batteries get a little warm, and the AA remain at room temperatures - so they aren't being over-charged. I'm very happy with my purchase.

It's the best and nearly the cheapest NiMH charger that can charge 1-4 batteries independently, not needed to charge in pairs like most of the others in this price range. That plus the Panasonic reliability.
