Can you write on the tape with a dry wipe pen and erase it?

I've just tried now with a normal pen and I can write and delete

Yes, I do it all the time,be aware though that it can slide down with any weight attached I put a coat of matt paint on which helps a bit. I use it to attach fabric photography backdrops on the wall then hang garlands etc from the hooks,works fine for this once painted

Will this work if placed behind a thin cloth on a notice board to hide the strips? Only meant to hold pictures.

It's possible would have to be quite thin cloth.
