Fantastic Buy! Worth the price.
The E43 auger either 8” blade was delivered quickly and was packaged very well. The instructions are written very well and very easy to understand. Set up was very simple and quick. Fired up right away. The earth blade with a hardened tip drilled straight down through VEAVY THICK clay soil with a lot of small rocks. It did exactly what I wanted… bore a 30” deep hole. If I had to use a manual digger it would’ve killed me in this heat. It seems to be well built and that blade is fantastic

starts easy, fairly powerful
This is a good earth auger, well built, starts easy, handles nice for one person; control (plastic throttle lever) seems a little light duty, but has worked fine so far. Putting in a chain link fence; drilling 8" corner holes and 6" inline holes. Works great. Has difficulty with heavy packed clay but would drill it if I kept plunging into it. I am over 70 so easer to just use post hole digger for the last few inches. Would be nice to have a bubble level on the top to get holes more plumb - especially when drilling on a slight slope as slopes are deceptive to get a plumb hole. Will try to glue a bubble level on the top. Putting in a cattle fence next, so I will try digging with a 12" bit. May try drilling with the 8" bit then take it bigger with the 12" as I anticipate difficulty using the 12" bit in this heavy clay as it will probably over load the power head. Tried using the extension but to much resistance in the clay soil.

Saved my back.
Made my life easier. I had to dig 8-44 inches deep by 10 inches wide. The auger made it pretty easy. I tried the premade oil and fuel together. I wouldn’t recommend it. Would not stay running. So, IGot some regular gas and added a two cycle oil and it ran like a charm. it would’ve cost me a days rental and a hassle of bringing one back to the rental place. made sense just to buy it. Love, that it’s American made!

Better Quality and Warranty than Harbor Freight's Predator auger, worth another 120 bucks.
To early to give a full review, but I can give first impressions. This is thenthird one man auger I have purchased, the first was from harbor freight, it did well for about 2 tanks of fuel, which equated to approximately 30 to 40 post holes but after a year the motor started losing compression suddenly and then it just quit working, most likely a burnt up coil. Warranty out not worth trying to fix. The second lasted 5 minutes. It was immediately returned to Home Depot with a defective transmission, would not turn when placed on the ground, cant remember the manufacturer but it was orange and similar to the earthquake in size. This auger is noticeably made better than the 2 prior ones I purchased. The motor, while slightly smaller than the Harbor Freight auger, has plenty of power and takes less effort to start. Another good feature is the spring on the auger bit, it absorbs a lot of the torque that can occur if you encounter a root or rock or other solid object. In ground where no rocks qre encountered this thing makes quick work of a 24 to 30 inch post hole. So far, it does not seem to overheat or seize up under normal use, which I would consider to be 10 to 20 minutes at a time and restarting has bot been an issue. In the process of building a privacy fence for my daughter sonit will have the opportunity to dig another 20 or so holes to go with the 8 it has already dug on the first day of use. Bottom line: if comparing to the Predator model, the earthquake is easier to start, easier and safer to use, uses 50:1 fuel (25:1 in the Predator model), has a 8 inch auger with a spring compared to the 6 inch solid drive of the Predator. MOST IMPORTANTLY THE MOTOR HAS A 5 YEAR WARRANTY, the Predator had only a 90 day warranty. Pay the extra 120 bucks and get thr Earthquake.

Great value
Received it yesterday. Except for installing the auger and tip it is fully assembled. two 9/16" wrenches and the auger is on and ready to go. They give you oil for 50:1 mix. I use the premix from Lowes which is alcohol free fuel and all my small engines never have problems on this fuel. I have clay soil with lots of wisteria vines and rocks. I am 70 years old and have no stamina in the heat and humidity of Alabama and there is no way I can plant my garden with a shovel. I bought this unis to dig he holes to transplant my veggies from the greenhouse. It took a few pulls to start the first time. After than one or two at most and it fired right up. Because it is 2 stroke engine you want to run wide open to keep the plug from fouling. It is geared perfecting and the auger spring help absorb shock if you hit roots or rocks. after digging a hole I just jam it into the ground and it sits upright until I am ready for the next hole. I keep the auger going and move it up and down to throw dirt from it and clear the hole. It is made in America and one of the reasons I bought this model.

beast mode auger
i love this thing,it augers holes like a mole on crack,it put in 10 holes with a ten inch auger in under 30 minutes at 2.5 foot deep,it only took that long because it was wearing my arms out holding onto this thing i bet a really strong man could have had them in in ten minutes flat.i will warn you though,if you hit a big root or a big rock, this thing will flip you over end over end or rip your arms out of the sockets ,its a brute and it rocks, wish i had to auger a bunch more holes because i love this thing.

Well Built
Used it for two different fence projects, 3 years apart. Around 50 posts each. This thing just did it's job every time

Very, Very Well Made
I have two augers. The Predator, 52cc from Harbor Freight, and now this one. The 43cc makes no notable difference in the hard, cold, packed clay I’ve been working on. In fact, the bit that this comes with makes ALL the difference. It’s very clearly well built, and designed with a purpose and saved my arms a couple times with the spring on the bit. It helps a lot! Couldn’t recommend this auger more, especially for the price. Two holes in this clay and it paid for itself. Unfortunately for me, I have 26 more to go!
