Best Iron/Heme Iron I have found. READ!
* Read entire review, somethings mentioned below you may have not thought about * Wonderful product! This helped me beat an anemic state I was dealing with. It seems to absorb so much better then Iron Bisglycine. This did not change my poop black, which Bisglycinate did. That is a sign, when supplementing iron that all the iron was not absorbed. I am sure it can possibly make your poop black but my body absorbed it all. No special way to take this iron either, no vitamin c needed. I would suggest you take this in the morning or on an empty stomach. Reason being, if your meals are high in calcium it can stop some of the absorption. The body also absorbs things better first thing in the morning. Calcium is the only thing that can stop SOME heme iron absorption. If meals are low in calcium, then you obviously can take the iron with them too. I believe I had an iron issue due to my past Vegan diet, I did not learn how to correctly eat with the vegan lifestyle. I was also deficient in B-12. There are Vegan foods high in iron such as Blackstrap Molasses but I did not know that, pea protein powder has a lot of iron as well. Lentils and Legumes also have high iron, which I was eating BUT I was not soaking them overnight, etc. Plants and grains have anti-nutrients which minimize absorption of many nutrients. You can remove some anti-nutrients with soaking/cooking but not all. Something to look into if you never heard of it. Tea/Coffee also block some iron absorption, if taken at the same time. Please research. I just wish the capsule did not include Silicone Dioxide but it is pretty difficult to find supplements today without some type of filler/preservative/flow agent. Their other versions of Iron has Dyes so this is why I choose this. This version is often sold out, very popular! Other vitamin deficiencies/issues, leading to Anemia can also be: B-12 B-6 Vitamin A,C,E,K Folate Zinc Copper Possible Candida/SIBO/Parasites It could also be low stomach acid which is not allowing for the absorption of nutrients. For low stomach acid, you can use Apple Cider Vinegar 15 minutes before a meal ( 1 TBSP dulted in 8oz water ). Another long term fix is supplementing with Betaine HCI. Some times low stomach acid can also be caused from a diet too low in sodium. Recommended daily sodium is around 2300mg, needing more for keto/carnivore or if you workout/sweat a lot. I personally only cook unseasoned whole foods and then add sea salt to the food and my water. This allows me to properly track my sodium intake. VITIMIN B1 Defeciency can also cause low stomach acid. Last thing I know of that can cause/dilute stomach acid is electrolyte water or high PH water, due to it being too alkaline. I ended buying a reliable PH Tester Pen and it indicates that my water was 9-10 in PH. Over time this high of PH can cause low stomach acid like stated. I personally was using Reverse Osmosis water, then add: Magnesium Powder, Potassium Powder, Calcium Powder, Sea Salt. After awhile I realized when I drank it, I would always burp afterwards. This is a sign that it was too high in PH. I finally realized this and tested it. I still make my electrolyte water with powders because I workout a lot. I now though, add some lemon juice to bring PH down before I consume. If you drink electrolyte water as well, this may be something you may want to test, my setup will be different then yours so I cannot give exact measurements, etc. Please take time to research about everything I wrote prior to supplementing, you may have different kinds of symptoms. This is why tests from your Doctor is your best bet. I personally treated it myself without a Doctor but it was a long road.

Gentle on stomach!

Gentle on little bodies
These have been very gentle on my kids’ GI system - no nausea or constipation. We haven’t tested yet to see if it improved ferritin numbers but symptoms are down so I’m expecting the anemia to be resolved when we retest.

Works
I have not had my levels checked but I can feel that I am not on the low side anymore as it is very apparent. One time I was told to stop taking my iron supp bc my pcp misinterpreted my iron panel. My energy, cold tolerance etc plummeted quickly. I have taken this and the Three Arrows supp which this co. Apparently sued for claiming to be a heme iron. Anyways Three Arrows worked great objectively through labs I know that my levels were going up and rather quickly after just one month. I wanted to try this brand and I can tell it works but it is a little hard on my stomach, which is why the four stars. I know it’s working but tummy upsets are not fun. If I don’t adjust stomach wise I’ll likely go back to the Three Arrows brand.

this really works and is easy on the GI system!
Relatively expensive, but the only iron supplement i could tolerate: all the others caused MASSIVE GI upset, nausea, bloating and pain .... and even better, this supplement really works for me, bringing my ferritin from 36 ng/ml to 56 ng/ml in just a few weeks, taking 2-3 capsules per day, usually with food ... heme-based [animal-derived] iron is said to be several times more absorbable than non-heme-based iron, and is also said to absorb even better when Vitamin C is taken at the same time ... i'll continue to take this with a goal of ~100 ng/ml

Interesting Experience
I donated blood and felt relatively fatigued doing things that otherwise would never fatigue me. I tested my ferritin 25 days after blood donation and it came back as 29. I chose this product as I heard that it is more absorbable comparatively from a functional medicine friend. At first, I felt a quick boost of mood/energy. I was taking 52.5 mg a day in the morning. At the same time, I noticed I was not sleeping as much and taking longer to fall asleep and was also getting up earlier naturally. Over the course of ten days of taking this supplement I eventually started to get really heavy brain fog. I was still having super high energy though so it was a strange paradoxical seemingly good and bad effect. Eventually the brain fog got to the point though where I was more concerned and decided to discontinue taking it. I retested my iron levels including my ferritin level after four days of being off of the supplement. My ferritin at that point went down to 24. Subjectively, I could tell there were hormonal effects from this supplement however I have no data to support that element of it. There are many positive reviews with this product and only a few negative ones that I can see. I know everyone is biochemically/metabolically unique so this obviously may not be your experience with the product, but I also wanted others to know my experience as felt it was the right thing to do. Either way, I learned a lot from this episode, so appreciate the new insight. Wishing you well on your iron optimization journey!
