Be Careful, Icarus! (Mini Myths) [Holub, Joan, Patricelli, Leslie] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Be Careful, Icarus! (Mini Myths) Review: Fun book - Lighthearted book for kids about the value of listening to your parents. It has a friendlier ending than the original myth, and the original myth is still included at the end of the book for people that want that. The book looks like it has some weird marks on it that show wear and that make it look old, but that's just the art style. Review: They are explained through an easy to understand story that is more or less unrelated ... - {My thoughts} – These books help to introduce children to the Greek Myths that are so well known. They are explained through an easy to understand story that is more or less unrelated to the actual myth. After the short little story is through the last page has a longer more detailed version of the myth in which it was based. The illustrations help to show children the story in a way in which they are able to better understand what is being read to them. I highly recommend this book for anyone that enjoys reading about Greek Myths and want to pass that love onto their children. My two year old daughter absolutely loves the books in this series. Her favorite that she has us read over and over and over is Be Patient, Pandora. I absolutely believe that every child should have these books on their bookshelves as they can help them to learn about Greek Mythology and they are really nice little stories!

intro into greek mythology
i love this book. it is very simple, has simple words and a simple story. I love how it's tied into traditional greek mythology where instead of wings the little boy has a kite. Also unlike the story the little boy, icarus, gets to try again after he gets his kite stuck in the tree. So it has a powerful message that maybeeeee the kid should listen to the parent.

These are adorable. We teach high school English and mythology so these are right up our alley. I like that they allude to the myths in the pictures besides just the story; the story has the same message but doesn't actually follow the plot. I also like that they give a kid version of the myth itself at the end. Our daughter loves this series.
