Great experience for my 7 and 2 year old! We ordered 10 caterpillars and all arrived alive. All made a chrysalis and all became butterflies. We let them go today.For anyone interested, just know they are fragile and alive. You need to actually care for them. We have cats so we made it a point to keep the butterflies in a separate room so the cats wouldn't disturb or hurt them. I just hope people think ahead and actually care for these little creatures.

This is such a fun educational experience for both kids and adults! We bought this for our home, but after we started my son's teacher bought the same set for their classroom. This kit comes with literally everything you need for the caterpillars/butterflies. It was super easy to setup. The butterfly habitat is made of a mesh material that makes it easy for airflow to go in so the butterflies could survive. The baby caterpillars come in a cup - about the size of an average cup, and the butterfly habitat is about 1.5-2 feet tall so the butterflies have room to move around. The caterpillar cup comes with all the food that they will need. All you have to do is watch them grow and then move the lid of the cup into the habitat once they are in chrysalis. It was super fun to do with my kids who are 3 & 6. Not only did they learn a lot during this experience, but so did us adults! For any and all questions, I went to the InsectLore website where they have everything you need to know about the process. This was a fun and safe way to learn! We will be getting this kit again!

We love raising caterpillars into butterflies🩷 it is such a fun way to learn about a butterfly life cycle and seeing their beauty up close. My daughter has autism and really enjoys animals/nature and science so this is a perfect activity for her! Great quality and just so much fun to experience!! We have done this years ago and really enjoyed the addition of the flower feeder and dropper which we did not have the first time. There were even provided sugar packets to make the nectar for them.Unfortunately, one of our caterpillar cups had a lot of issues. One caterpillar never grew, it was significantly smaller than the others then eventually died. Of the other 4 caterpillars, 2 of them formed their chrysalis on the bottom of the cup in the food. I’m not sure if they started hanging then were knocked down (it happened over night). We scooped them out and placed them on a paper towel at the bottom of the provided enclosure but they never emerged. We got 7 out of 10 butterflies (2 out of 5 from cup 1 and 5 out of 5 from cup 2)Despite the losses I would 100% recommend this to anyone looking to raise butterflies!

Bought as a birthday gift for my great nephews. They loved the kits from start to finish. They sent me photos when they released their butterflies into their yard. They are 9 and 5 and enjoyed every minute.

Thank God I have NEVER recieved any dead caterpillars. I think I would have a heart attack because things like that really "bug" me hahahaha. Get it?... ANYWAY! I only trust getting them from here. I have a daycare so im always getting it for my kids. They absolutely love it 😀 I got caterpillars 4 times from here and never had any issues

The product is great when you get a good batch. I have purchased multiple orders from here, and the kids have always loved it. But there has always been a few minor hiccups or issues with at least one order.This time, we bought two orders. One order was already missing a caterpillar. Its not a big deal, unless your two kids start fighting over who gets the extra caterpillar (easily solved issue, so no biggy).The real issue was when they became chrysalis's. The chrysalis became black and no butterfly emerged. This happened to about 3 caterpillars in both batches.The lid stayed on even when they became a chrysalis to prevent movement. We kept them in the guest room to prevent light exposer and shaking of the enclosure.It was an educational moment for the kids about death, but this was not the conversation I was hoping to have with the butterflies.Overall this is a great buy. But expect some issues with the caterpillars and have the conversations ready to go just in case.
