Glasser
I've been a classroom teacher for nearly 20 years and was introduced to Glasser's theories by my first principal. If you apply these theories correctly and follow it up with some workshops, you can't fail in the classroom with behavior and learning. However, it does take a certain personality. You need to let go of control and for some teachers this is a problem.

Simply the best!
Glasser's work is the root to all behavior plans currently in play. Name any "big name" off or on television who claims a certain genius when it comes to behavior in the classroom and you are witnessing the work of William Glasser. Ignore the critics and read everything he writes. He's at the top of the behavior pyramid. Reality Therapy: A New Approach to Psychiatry (Colophon Books)

I need more!!!
I thought this was a great book! I am currently trying to implement this theory into my classroom. My only dissappointment is that I felt like I needed step by step instructions on how to implement this plan into my classroom and all Glasser offered were a few examples and then other books I should buy and read.

The ideas are excellent
Still stock with the Utopian situation ... but many of his theories and ideas in whole or part actually do work and choice theory is successful in the modern classroom.

Interesting read
This book was required reading for my teaching methods course my senior year of college. It was interesting, although I did not agree with everything. I will definitely make use of learning teams as much as possible in my classroom, although I would like to see an application to music and arts classrooms. I was slightly irked at the references to music and the arts as "extracurricular" and "nonacademics," since I firmly believe that these are core subjects and should be considered as such. One other little note - there seems to have been some kind of publishing problem. In several different spots, the last sentence of the paragraph is missing...not too much of an issue, just a little annoying.Overall, a fairly easy read and worthwhile.

Classic Contemporary
This book is still ahead of it's time. This is not the latest gimmick, but the future of effective classroom management.
