Great small sturdy edc knife
Smaller than I'd expected, doesn't fit my huge hands very well but I need my knives to be under three inches due to local laws. The d2 blade came sharper than I've ever had a knife out of box, with a dozen spydercos, another dozen, cold steels. A handful of bokers, bucks, Kershaws and Ontario's.First new in box benchmade. I had and old hk cqc6 that was fantastic. Fit and finished are unparalleled in my knife collection. Sharpness too. Great first benchmade, it makes me want to get more of their products.Large handedness is the only reason I'd say to skip this knife Like extra large sized gloves might struggle with it, everyone else would have a great time flicking this thing open and closed and cutting up anything that gets in their way. Wonderful knife

Not quite up to a Benchmade
Nice knife, good grip and blade but the axis lock is no where as smooth as my Griptilian. Overall, is time around I wish that I had bought the mini Grip.

Great heavy duty D2 knife
The knife is great but not excellent. First I love the d2 steel it took me forever to find a good pocket knife with d2 steel. D2 steel is very similar to s30v they both are pain to sharpen But hold an edge for a long time and both are corrosion resistant. S30v has a big advantage in that it can have the same or better edge retention at lower Rockwell hardness than d2. The knife was sharp but not normal benchmade sharp I touched it up first with a butchers sharpening steel then leather strop and some 8,000 grit polishing compund and it is hair popping sharp. The size is perfect for edc and disappears in the pocket. I like the knife better without the pocket clip attached. I can just barely get a full grip on it and I have small hands. Some of the edges on the handle and places are a bit sharp I took a pad of scotch brite and smoothed them out. These are made by benchmade but they just seem like they don't quite get the TLC the benchmade brand knives get. The blade has good geometry the blade is a good medium between being thin enough to be a good slicer but thick enough to have good edge retention. You won't regret buying the knife.

My 2 cents on the H&K Mini AXIS... Just buy it!
The numerous complaints of many who buy Benchmade and H&K Black-'BK1' blade coated knives can be attributed to the finish wearing off the AXIS bar and the liners where the AXIS bar rides and leaves deposits on the blade tang which rubs on the bar as well. This powdered finish then gathers on those contact surfaces causing that gritty feel those who own these knives sometime feel. I've taken apart most all my Benchmade and H&K BK1-coated knives previously to clean these surfaces and then when the knife is reassembled and lightly oiled it's a smooth as any in my collection. The satin blade versions of these same model knives aren't coated so don't suffer from this. You don't necessarily need to disassemble, clean, and reassemble them however. Simple normal use for a few days or so will wear the coating off where it can then be washed out very easily with a warm tap water flow. Blow it dry then apply a drop or so of oil and the knife will be as smooth as butter. The 14716BK that I just received was so smooth out of the box that I simply used a Q-Tip soaked with some Hoppe's gun cleaner to clean the black coating from the Axis bar and surrounding surfaces then washed the knife under a warm water flow and applied a couple drops of Militec-1 to the bushings, AXIS bar, and blade tang surface where the bar rides. Adjusting the pivot removing any lateral blade play finished off the knife. Now it's as fast and smooth as any i own. Out of the box the knife was one of the sharpest factory edges I've bought in quite awhile. A simple stropping and I was done with its edge. Blade centering is dead center, fit and finish is great, and any time you can get a D2 blade steel knife with the quality of a Benchmade for less than a hundred bucks, buying this knife was be a no-brainer and should be for anyone looking for a blade of this size. I own many different knives from many manufacturers both high end and budget priced. This is my fifth H&K, and among the numerous Benchmades I own they remain some of my favorite EDC knives. While costlier than some I believe them to be some of the finest blades one can own at its price point or even higher in many cases and their warranty and customer service is second to none.

The H&K is a sturdy well built knife
My everyday carry has been the small throw away Buck bantam 284's for a few years now. Although I could buy about 6 bantam's for the price of the H&K mini. The H&K is a sturdy well built knife. The quality is superb and close to the same overall leangth of the 284 bantam. It has good weight to it and came shave sharp out of the box. If you like smaller knives the review below got it right. Just buy it !!!!!!

I love this knife and carry it daily
I love this knife and carry it daily. It's been staying sharp really well and I've only had to sharpen it once in two months (granted I use it every single day). Really Really great knife. I like it better than the benchmade griptilian (even though they're very similar).

Great knife. Benchmade quality without the aesthetics at a great price. D2 steel, Axis lock and grippy G-10. A reliable knife that you won't be afraid to use.
