Seagate Laptop Thin 500 GB 7200RPM SATA 6 GB/s 32 MB Cache 2.5 Inch Hard Disk Drive (ST500LM021)

Works great in my Eufy Homebase, with two S4 cameras. I could never get an SSD to work right (I’ve tried Samsung, Crucial, and Western Digital), and every one of them worked for a couple of hours, and completely bricked themselves unusable. There was no recovering any of them. Luckily, the manufacturers honored their return policies, so I got my money back. Who would’ve known that an old hard drive was a perfect solution? I figured such a modern product would support an SSD just fine, but I suppose not! If you have an Eufy Homebase, buy this instead of an SSD. It will save you a lot of troubles.

Fast shipping & nicely packaged. Being UPS, the packaging was a concern ahead of time. Arrived probably close to 90% unblemished box. And the drive was pristine. Installed in my Mom's Dell computer pretty quickly and installed Linux Mint without hassle.

Ordered this drive because of reviews, thought I would add my two cents. I had a problem ASUS laptop that was stuck on BIOS menu and would not boot, after attempting to restart device noticed that hdd was not running. I removed drive to use externally with cable and it was frozen (sort like Disney movie). I found this slim drive with decent reviews and ordered it on my prime account, arrived promptly within two days. Open up the laptop and replaced with this drive and loaded Windows 8 from a usb drive upon boot up. It took the image with no problem and booted up very quickly, I did not hear any excessive noise was quiet. I then decided to go ahead and upgrade to Windows 10 while I was at it and after about hour was finished. Now the little laptop is like new again with no bloat ware and very speedy. Returned it back to mother in law who was very happy to not have to buy new laptop. I would recommend this drive for fair price and decent specs, would like to thank anyone for reading my review and hope it helps out.

Ordered this from Amazon Warehouse Deals for about 10% less than the new price listed on Amazon. I couldn't find any blemish on the item (as the description stated), but it might as well have been totally new. I ordered this for my ASUS T200 transformer book. It has the option for a HDD in the docking bay, so I chose this one over a pricier solid state drive. I really don't know why people are so afraid to buy hard drives these days. SSD's cost 2x as much for 1/2 the storage. I know there are pros and cons, and if I were running a performance PC, I would probably opt for a SSD, but with high speed internet, cloud storage, online backup options, etc., there's not really the fear factor for losing stuff these days as there was 10 years ago. About this drive: I installed it in about 3 minutes, booted up my PC, formatted it in Windows 8, and the whole process took less than 8 minutes. It's been humming along quietly ever since. Transfer times are as expected, and this drive weighs very little. I am happy with the price, and the performance.

After buying a refurbished Dell Inspiron E5410 laptop computer, which had a Seagate Momentus 180 GB 7200 RPM hard drive with 3GB/S SATA interface and 16 MB of cache, I wanted more speed and performance. For less than 40 bucks, this drive was a solution that was dramatically less expensive than a solid-state drive. Connecting this drive temporarily to a USB 3.0 SATA controller attached to my computer, I used Macrium Reflect Free Edition software to clone the internal 2.5" disk drive to this one. Then I removed the laptop's old internal drive and replaced it with this drive. This drive was slightly thinner but since it is secured to its enclosure by two screws and the computer's SATA connector, the thinner size presented no installation problem. The faster SATA interface and larger cache of this drive, gave my old Dell Inspiron E5410 a faster boot now than it did with the smaller, slower drive. Using Windows partitions, I expanded the usable space on this drive; enabling the computer to utilize its full formatted capacity. The entire process took less than an hour and resulted in a better performing computer with more than twice the available hard-drive storage space. The so-called Prime two-day delivery actually took five days.

A friend of mine owns several older ThinkPads that he is letting his young children use for "distance learning" schoolwork during the novel coronavirus quarantine. His young son dropped one of them onto a concrete floor, which killed the original 320 GB 7200 RPM Seagate drive. I was not able to get the machine to recognize a 2.5" SSD - That would have required a firmware update which could not be done without a running operating system. So I went shopping for a spinning HDD. This 500 GB drive was recognized instantly by the machine. I installed a copy of Windows 10 Professional Education Edition that I happened to have in my Box O' Fun. After about four hours of Windows updates and reboots the machine is back in service and working as well as ever. This is a good value if you need a spinning HDD for a laptop.

I would like to first note that I am sending this review based on my experience with two of these drives for only two months. I have two HP business laptops (2 years old) that within the course of a month both had their hard drives go. I purchased these drives because their price was well and I need roughly 500gb of space on my computers. In the time that I have used these drives so far, I have had no problems. Although they are just standard hard drives, I find their performance to be fine for what I use them (word processing, internet browsing, Photoshop, Lightroom, video editing). I hope these drives last longer than the ones they were replacing. i will update this review I experience problems in the future, but right now both drives are performing great in both of my laptops. I have included included speed tests for your review. The only difference in the laptops is one is running Windows 8.1 (the slower test) and the other is running Windows 10.
