How do you install these?

I just used a pair of needle nose pliers to squeeze them shut over the ends of the lace. Gentle, constant pressure moving up and down the length of the aglet paying attention to not deforming them.

How do I apply these?

The metal is Soft, you need to use a pliers to fix it on the end of the shoelaces, a normal pliers can do this

Has anyone tried these on para-cord?

I used it on some 550 paracord, it closed fine for me, just crimp them with pliers it worked very nicely! to slide it in you will have to opens it a little, which you can do with your fingers pretty easily
