World Railway Journeys
This book has a lot of information about railways around the world. Nice maps, with the railway lines shown with a bright red line. Although it is a paper back type book, it is a well made book and makes it easier to carry on a trip.

Excellent, with some surprises
I've read several of the author's books and I've also read books by other authors who have done their own globe-trotting. Of course, there is so much that could be covered that the different authors always find somewhere the others haven't been, although some overlap is to be expected. As such, I didn't need another account of the Darjeeling Railway, but I understand its appeal and if it's new to you, it's certainly worth reading about.Elsewhere, the author inevitably devotes a section to Britain and Ireland, but I mostly bought this book to read about the rest of the world. Again, there's a lot of good stuff about British and Irish railways, some of which is even new to me.Further afield, I found the stuff about the run-down railways of Eritrea and Sudan fascinating. They are in the process of being restored to working order, but it may be some years before they are open to visitors. Apart from a piece on a line in South Africa, the rest of Africa is ignored. In North America, the author looks at western Canada, with Winnipeg bring the eastern limit. Somehow, I'd had the impression that the Canadian Pacific route was closed. It isn't, but it's mostly a freight route these days. Still, considering how sparse the population is in that region, it's a miracle that any trains run at all.South America is mostly represented by lines in Ecuador and Peru. Although I think I've read about these somewhere before, it was a long time ago and I appreciate the refresher.China is well represented, and there is a good section on mainland Europe that mostly avoids the obvious routes. There are plenty of great pictures throughout. I could say a lot more but I think you have enough to decide whether to buy or not.

I have no idea of the content is good..
This book is a joke. The print is so small that the content is unreadable. I have no idea of the content is good...or not.

Smaller than expected
My fault for not reading the description fully!I was expecting a larger format. However, this is a well illustrated book and makes me wish I were able enough to take some of the journeys.

A colourful and descriptive book to be treasured
World railway journeys has been bought for someone who rarely leaves his chair, and would enjoy travelling through this book to places elsewhere. I think he will be delighted with it.
