Great purchase, works like the description says, Rock Solid.
So happy we purchased this, the one that originally came with our rails from the manufacturer failed after only 14 crimps. We used this for over 250 cables and it worked flawlessly. While the other unit took 7 or 8 pumps to crimp the ends, this unit only took 3 pumps to complexly swage the fittings making the process much faster and easier to complete. Would highly recommend this purchase.

cable crimper
This works great. but if you buy 1/8 cable i would by 1/16 size dies because the 1/8 are not tight enough to hold the cable. but the tool worked great. Plus I would buy the cutters for the cable as well they are amazing on how well they cut the cable.

Works but thumb screw wears on your fingers
Ordered this to build my own cable railing. I made over 300 crimps. The thumb screw was wearing out my fingers and thumb so I had to use pliers. Purchase or create (I made my own.) a stabilizer base to help with the crimping process. This will reduce fatigue during use. I noticed that the closed position on the thumb screw slowly moved over time. Also, the cutter is not meant to cut stainless or galvanized cable. The cutter failed after about a dozen cuts.I would still purchase again.

Junk
Bought to crimp 1/8 rail cable. Couldn't get one crimp to hold. Save yourself the trouble and buy a different crimper, this one is junk. Guess that's why it's 1/2 the price of the other ones. Get what you pay for. Returning to Amazon.

Great value in time and effort saved
I couldn't have completed the job without this. Needed to do 90 crimps on stainless and had only used a manual non-hydraulic crimper before, so I was not looking forward to this job. It was a little cumbersome until I remembered the crimper stabilizer that I had also bought on the 'zon. Once I attached it I was off to the races. I only ruined one connector and that was on me. Turns out if you compress the clip without inserting the cable it doesn't work too well.It lasted through the first two patios totaling 90 crimps (91 if you count the one I botched) and I have another two patios to go. If it fails before I finish them I will update this review.I did have to apply a little more pressure to the "On/Off" wheel to get a good crimp later in the job, so maybe that tiny valve does wear some with usage. If other reviewers are not tightening that enough, it would explain why they are not getting solid crimp connections. You should definitely feel some solid back pressure against the compressing handle for a good crimp. If you can keep pumping, either the On switch is not rotated firmly enough or there is a hydraulic leak and you will need to do some maintenance.A great value all around in my book. Even if I have to buy a second one to complete all 4 patios I will think I got a fair deal for the amount of work and time saved.

Quality product that does what it is supposed to do.
Deliver was quick. This product worked very well for installing my deck cable rail system. I particularly like the in-line design of the press - other tools have an offset press design and I was wary of breakage with those. The hardware seems to be high quality and provides great power for crimping.

Mounting a flat platform
The one thing that would make this item user friendly would to have it mounted on a flat platform so that it doesn’t have a tendency to roll around. After the first couple of uses I mounted it on a flat board, this really made a big difference in the stability and convenience. Other than that a great tool especially for the price.
