(No, really I asked this myself - I pay a good money for my JBM and I want to know why I should buy it from this or that company). Well, I did some research on these guys. Review: Smooth Coffee! - I kind of experimented with this coffee using different temperature, water, boldness of brew to see how best to enjoy it. The aroma of the beans is bold and strong, but not too overpowering. I drank a bold brew, black and although it was smooth, it was kind of bitter. So, with another brew (regular), I used hazelnut coffeemate to lessen the bitterness. Although the bitterness was lessened a bit, the coffeemate overpowered the scent and taste of the coffee. I don't see the point in buying expensive beans if you need heavy cream and sugar. In another brew (bold), I flavored it with condensed milk. It diffused the bitterness and the coffee glided down smoothly. It's the perfect pair. I used double filter water for my best cup. I'm going to try it with Fiji water next time to see if it'll heighten the quality. Using a good or decent machine makes a difference.

The company that made Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee famous
Coffee . . . nectar of the gods. Look, you either get it, or you don't. If coffee is not central to your religion you probably shouldn't read this. Coffee is not a beverage. Milk is a beverage. Good Coffee for Special Occasions
It is good, authentic Blue Mountain Jamaica coffee. The coffee itself is a bit sweet, while being bolder, and stronger flavored. It is listed as medium roast, but I think it is closer to dark roast than medium roast. In order to properly enjoy it, a French Press is a necessity.

It's fresh and authentic!
I ordered 8-ounces of ground, medium roast Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee (Wallenford Estate), and it arrived around noon, so I made a cup using 6 heaping tablespoons of ground coffee and one liter of Ozarka Spring Water at 200-degrees Fahrenheit using the French Press method, brewing in the French Press for approximately two minutes. The manufacturing date on the package is "February 2021", so with this being May 3, 2021 I think it's about as fresh as possible, which is good. It's fresh--not old or outdated. This is the manufacturing date, NOT the "Enjoy By" date, so it was roasted and ground in February 2021, about two months ago, which works for me in terms of freshness. I have an old-style coffee grinder with hand lever, but in this instance I was in a lazy mood, hence getting ground rather than whole beans. For reference, "six rounded tablespoons" in my terminology maps to 12 level tablespoons and probably is too strong for most folks, but so what. I have what I call the "South American Coffee Achiever Gene Matrix", which even though I am not South American gives me the ability to drink very strong coffee without becoming dead soon thereafter. In perhaps simpler medical terms, I am a "fast caffeine metabolizer". This level of strong coffee literally can be lethal to slow caffeine metabolizers. Do the research. It's not difficult to find, and it's not goofy. Slow caffeine metabolizers should NOT drink caffeinated coffee. How does it taste? It's very smooth, and it's definitely Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee. I enjoy it in a large coffee cup (approximately 12-ounces) and I add about a 1/2" of half-and-half to make it less acidic, which I do with all coffee. I enjoy very strong coffee, and as a courtesy to my stomach, I buffer it with half-and-half unless I am enjoying a small cup of Cuban coffee in public, in which case no cream or half-and-half due to cultural prohibitions for men enjoying Cuban coffee in public. A teaspoon or two of sugar is allowed, but no cream or half-and-half. It's not my culture, but I follow the rules as a courtesy, of course. I prefer very strong, dark-roasted coffee, but this is medium-roasted, hence the larger quantities. For the next cup, I will try 3 heaping tablespoons (or 6 level tablespoons), but I must admit the current cup is very nice, so perhaps i will continue with the 6 heaping tablespoons formula. I have been enjoying Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee since the mid-1980s, and the curious aspect is that it's not exotic. Instead it's the best cup of coffee available on this planet--when the Japanese don't buy all of the current crop, which they tend to do every once in a while and is one of the reasons it's so expensive. FYI: The burlap outer packaging is for looks. The coffee is inside a silver plastic coffee vacuum-packed and sealed sack with the required 3/4" vacuum plug. It's high quality packaging, and the coffee is properly protected. It's expresso or fine grind, which is good. If you want a different grind, then get whole beans and grind it yourself. This is Wallenford Estate, fresh, and it's the real stuff!

avoid ground coffee, whole bean was proper
Since my fiasco with the ground coffee, I received a small sample of whole bean from Wallenford and brewed this. It was the expected Jamaican Blue we who have visited the island know and love. I think they have quality issues on the ground coffee, but only time will tell if it is a whole bean issue too. I am likely to order whole bean again, when proper the flavor is exquisite. Previous :: Made this coffee several different ways, the retailer said coffee press but I also tried drip. This is horrid coffee, akin to folgers in flavor. Nothing like the Jamaican coffee I remember when visiting there many years ok. This is of course a personal taste issue, so maybe you'll like it But I dont think so.

No Finer Coffee
Having just had a cup of this coffee, I am more than happy to write a review. My wife and I generally drink 'Big-bucks' French Roast coffee, which is very good. However, we drink Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee as an occasional treat. There is no finer coffee in the world. It is incredibly smooth, chocolaty, and rich. This particular brand is more of a medium roast, so those who want their coffee stronger will have to use larger scoops. I could not understand why it costs so much until I read that the Japanese purchase over 80% of its inventory. If this is true it means that the price is a reflection of the rest of us fighting over the less than 20% that's left. Fair? Perhaps not. But life isn't necessarily fair.

Wallenford's quality control seriously flawed
I bought a bag for Christmas - I've done that many times in the past. I typically go with Wallenford via Amazon because it's so easy. Occasionally I'll use other suppliers and get Clifton Mount or Old Tavern Estate (my all-time fav) or RSW Estates Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee. So I'm very familiar with what JBM coffee tastes like. This bag TASTED LIKE CRAP. Imagine you get to the office one morning and find a pot of coffee. You figure someone just made it, so you pour a cup. Then you take a drink... Yes, that's what this bag of coffee tasted like - like coffee that had been burning for hours and hours. It was really icky. It's undrinkable. For $63 a pound, you have a right to expect a great, world class cup of coffee. Wallenford's quality control is terrible. And they, nor Amazon, stands behind their product. Don't waste your money on this.

Disappointed
I hate leaving bad reviews but this coffee was really weak. I originally drank Blue Mountain coffee while I was visiting Jamaica and was blown away at how good it was. I wanted to have that delicious taste again and started searching online. It's pretty overwhelming sorting through all the different companies and prices. This company had such good reviews and the price was reasonable (for Blue Mountain coffee) I decided to go for it. When the package arrived the date on the back made me think it was fresh. I was excited and made my first cup. Hmmm. Very weak. Nice flavor I guess but just weak. I tried making another cup but used about 3 spoonfuls of coffee rather than the usual 2. Same result but slightly less weak. My wife and I tried making the coffee lots of different ways because we figured it the coffee was fine but we were doing something wrong. But no, this coffee is just really, really weak. And by weak I don't mean the roast. I wouldn't want it any darker (I don't like Starbucks, it tastes burnt to me). I like a medium roast. It just came out watery, even when I increased the amount. I'm surprised by all of the great reviews. Perhaps I got a bad batch or something.
