This Little Golden Book all about Daddies' day at work is the perfect story to share with Dad's everywhere! In a charming rhyme, this 1953 Little Golden Books asks, "What do daddies do all day? Daddies work while children play." It shows daddies working in all kinds of careers, from farming to teaching to even singing in the opera! And it assures children that at the end of the workday, "by taxi, train, by car and bus, Daddy rushes homeโto us!" Illustrated by Tibor Gergely, who brought the beloved Little Golden Book characters Scuffy the Tugboat and Tootle to life. Review: A Sweet, Classic Read โ Perfect for Bedtime! - I got Daddies for my sonโs birthday, and itโs quickly become a favorite in our home! We read it multiple times a day โ Iโve practically got it memorized! The simple, classic illustrations are wonderful for little onesโ growing minds, and they bring such a calm, cozy vibe, making this book especially great for winding down before bed. Little Golden Books are a staple in our family, and Daddies fits right in. Highly recommend for any parent looking to add a timeless, heartfelt story to their childโs collection! Review: Great illustrations. Great story. - My son and daughter (who are 2 and 4 years old) love this book. They seem to gravitate to all the Little Golden Books we have. It's one that I don't mind reading over and over again. The pictures have an old fashioned look to them, but I like them, especially the one at the end showing them all eating dinner together. As others have noted, there aren't really any women in the book, but it is about Daddies, and applies well to our family situation. The main point is that daddy loves them even though he is away at work all day, so it might not be the best choice for stay-at-home Dads. Made a great Father's Day present for us.

This book brings back so many sweet memories!
When my son was a toddler, I read to him every night. This book was one of the stories in a large book of children's stories. My son loved Daddies so much, he wanted me to read it over and over and over again until he had it memorized and he would "read" it himself. Now my son will be 46 in March and I bought it as a surprise for his birthday. I think he will enjoy it and it will make him laugh. It is a great book. Now one of my daughters wants me to buy a copy for one of my great-grandsons!!!

Adorable. When my 3 boys miss their daddy while he's at work, its really nice to have this book! Especially for my 3 year old. Its nice to know daddies have important jobs & that they're not the only kids waiting for their daddy to come home. It's also nice to reassure them that daddy can't wait to see them either! Sweet, nostalgic pictures. Love it.

A classic reclaimed!
This classic Little Golden Book was my first "favorite book" as a little girl of four years who adored her daddy. Knowing full well that copy didn't survive the 60 plus years that have passed, I was elated to find it still in print. I found I still knew many pages by heart! My goal is to read it unendingly to a grandson who adores his daddy. Though the pictures are dated, and some of the occupations don't exist anymore, the love and respect a hard-working family man deserves is still well communicated--and the love of a child for it's father is still lovingly affirmed. I'm delighted with my purchase!

A childhood favorite
I used to read this book over and over. I bought it for someone recently and re-read it with many tears. It's a real Golden classic! It's wholesome, cute, funny, and familial. Kids AND adults will love reading it. Plus, it transports you back to the 50s!

Just fine
This was a good book. My husbands job doesn't really fit into any of the categories, it's very basic normal man jobs, so any job out of the ordinary won't be present in the book. Still a cute book with a good ending :)

When I was a little boy
This was one of my favourite books and to find it again was brilliant. It's just as good if a little old fashioned but something I will always remember.

My 3-year-old likes this book
My son really likes this book. It is a bit old-fashioned but very sweet and can totally be related to contemporary families. Loved the rhyming!

Perfect for the baby missing their Daddy during the day.
Golden Books are nostalgic for me. This book made me laugh because I read it to my kids and their eyes were so wide and focused on the pictures and they seemed to hold onto every word. I tell them where Daddy is each day 'working' and imagine what they think that means. I mean I do explain it and they have seen, but it's a nice little reminder for them. I love at the end how it talks about Daddies being at work all day, but then he rushes to get home to the kids as if he would rather be with them all day, Really it is a great book for the little ones and their pondering minds.

Nice book to read to little babies
Gifted it to my husband on his firat father's day. He liked it very much. The book decribes the various occupations that 'fathers' take up , through poetic description and pictures. All in all a nice book to read to babies.

A sweet look at what daddies do all day...
This book is sweet and timeless. With rhyming text and attractive, colourful pictures, it shows all the sorts of jobs daddies do during the day, before rushing home to be with their families. Although today, many mommies also spend the day outside of the home, the fact remains that most daddies do work hard to provide for their children, and this book celebrates that, and teaches children to appreciate their father's hard work, and skills. After all though, the best thing about this book is that my 2 year old loves it and asks me to read it to her over and over again.
