CHUCKIT is no longer what it used to be...now it totally ....well, not using that word!!
I have been using chuckit pro for last 10 years or so, and now something is wrong!!! The last TWO I bought from Amazon were totally defective, as when I throw the ball (chuckit balls) the ball comes out and bounces right in front of me...I have tried everything to make it work, bending it, etc. but NO.....I am wondering if Amazon is getting their defective ones on purpose, since it is so hard to return......I am so pissed!!!! And my 4 dogs are so disappointed!!!!

The best way to tire your dog out in the dark
My 7 month Golden Retriever puppy has way too much energy. And I go to work in the dark, and come home in the dark. This was the solution.First of all if you get this, I suggest a UV flashlight to charge it. Most of these phosphors for glow in the dark items have very strong optical absorption in the UV, and the UV will charge both the ball and the launcher in seconds. I shine the light at the launcher with the ball in it, since you can then see where the launcher is when you are trying to load the ball. I use this UV flashlight, which takes qty=3 AA batteries.https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01A5KLUG2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1I have never used a launcher before and I learned it within about 10 throws. It is easy to have a basic competence. I live in a suburban area and I send the ball across front lawns, trying to avoid the street, or hitting my neighbors parked cars. I can consistently do this now with the launcher, which is a big improvement over the old tennis racket and ball routine.I got the 25" medium ball launcher, which also works for tennis balls. The scoop goes easily over the Chuck-it balls. My older dog is not taking to it, since he was trained to sit and give the ball. This works better if you have the dog drop the ball so you can scoop it.The glow in the dark ball has 2 holes (think wiffle) that have a low pitch whooshing whistle as you toss it. This is great for my puppy who gets easily distracted as the glowing ball and the noise it makes really helps him propery mark it. Overall I think the dog retrieves better in the dark as there are fewer distractions, and I feel better about the dark for retrieving since there is no traffic early in the morning (both foot and auto). The ball has some squish to it and the pup loves to chew on it as he brings it back. I do not let him play with it when we are not retrieving...better for him to destroy his chew bones and ropes. It took him about 5 tries to get the hang of picking up the new ball. The older dog (13yr old golden) does not like it and only goes for tennis balls.I can tell already this is my puppy's favorite toy ever. I put it up out of reach across coat hooks in the entryway, and that pup will sit there staring at it, then at me, then at it hoping that I will go out and use it. With bounces and rolls and the puppy missing the grab this has gone 100-150' across 3 front lawns. I am looking forward to giving it a go in the park on the weekend.Main problems with the pup now are he likes to parade around me with the ball when he comes back, then lie down and try to give it a proper chew. If I use my launcher to pick it up, I have to put my foot between him and the ball since he will try to get it back fast. Overall this launcher means faster pickup, faster release, more accurate release, good distance, and a better run per time allocation than the old tennis racket and ball routine.

My Standard Poodle LOVES this ball. Our new nighttime routine.
The media could not be loaded. This helps me get my Standard Poodle puppy tired before bedtime. The 18MM ball is perfect size for his long skinny mouth and he ABSOLUTELY loves chasing it and chewing on it. It glows really bright and is very easy to find out in the grass at night.

Don’t waste your money on the Pro!
Don’t waste your money on the Pro. Used it twice and the cup that holds the ball broke. The cheap one lasts longer. And now to get a refund I need to send the broken one back on my nickel. Going to cost as much to send back as it cost to buy it. I’m getting the next one at Pet Smart where I can bring it back if it breaks.

Classic is best for Long high lobs (25M)
So I needed another Chuckit the one I had an original it is 5 years old and still going strong, I use it every day and had no complaints. I just needed a second for our second car so we alway have one regardless of which car we are in. I saw the "PRO" and the more comfortable Rubber handle and assumed the chuckit might be an upgrade over the original. Well the handle is more comfortable, the white color is nice, but the chuckit is stiff and releases the ball late resulting in a ground ball that does not get much distance. With my old original I am able to do nice long high lobs which my dog likes because she catches the ball on the first bounce. So I returned the Pro and and found the Ultra which advertised to be more like the Original with a more comfortable rubber handle. Again the handle is nice but again the chuckit is fine for ground balls but I could not achieve a high long distance lob. So I returned it and purchased the classic and found that although it was a little stiffer than my 5 year old one I was able to reproduce the high long lobs by slightly modifying my technique. Some dogs (many dogs) won't track a ball through air and need to chase it on the ground if that is your dog the Pro or Ultra might be fine.....the Pro handle is better the Ultra chuck it I think works better. But for me the original is the best although I wish it had a rubber handle.

Love it, but the balls DO NOT last
Review by Quilt Lady’s hubby.Due to injuries to both rotator cuffs throwing a ball overhand for our dog is awkward & painful. I have been throwing it underhand, but that has it’s own issues after 30-45 minutes. Thought I’d give a “Chuck-it” a try and am ever glad I did. It does take some practice to get the trajectory right ( watch some YouTube videos on it first), but I can now throw the ball farther than I ever could by hand which means Magic gets to run further each time and gets more exercise. I LOVE the fact that I don’t have to even touch the ball (especially once it’s dripping in slobber) since I only have to bend over slightly to scoop it up with the cupped end of the throwing stick!!!!Unless you have a good pitcher’s arm get one of these! Your shoulder and dog will LOVE IT!UPDATE 02/2021I LOVE the throwing stick, BUT the balls are splitting in half with ease. If your dog squeezes the ball in their mouth as they’re returning with the ball it’s going to split PDQ. I’m on the 2nd ball and it’s already splitting after only a couple of uses. Be sure to buy extra balls JIC

Two reviews in one !!!
Would get more stars if it was the actual item I ordered (I've had the max glo before, and can confirm they are the dogs balls launcher (😂😂see what I did there) with sturdy frame and soft contoured rubber grip for comfort. Also the max glo ball is great, it has holes in it and therefore whistles when launched thru the air. Unfortunately I received a basic blue model with basic tennis ball (my dog would destroy this in one outing, no good) and no rubber on the grip. It seems to be called the "sport 25" model. I would avoid this if came across . I've written this review for the benefit of customers as well as the seller, because I don't see an option to add photo when contacting seller to inform that I have received the wrong item..... Anyway, back to the max glo.. yes, five stars for it, two stars for this model I received (I've labelled it one star to hopefully draw the sellers attention and show them the photo ) so in summary. Buy the max glo, and pray you don't receive this one 😁. Regards, Kirk...

You definitely get the distance.
This is great if like me you struggle to consistently throw a ball any distance at all (with cheap version)My dogs certainly appreciate the distance, I would say it's halved number of throws to tired out my Labrador and Jack Russell.I don't let my dogs chew a ball thrower, but appears well made and holds balls much better than cheap version. I actually get to the field without losing the ball!

Quality and function doesnt come cheap but this is in a different league,
Awesome! Okay this is pricey compared to mainstream ball throwers, but for an energetic German Shepherd the Chuckit XL balls and launcher are in a different league - our dog can run for miles and dismember a tennis ball in a few seconds so we needed a long, consistent thrower with resilient ballsWe have only used the Chuckit XL Ultra ball with this thrower because we know it to be reasonably GSD proof (though, as pictured, the thrower does come with a tough looking XL sized tennis ball) - both are a perfect fit and work very wellThe launcher picks up the ball easily and releases predictably, even when wet/dirty/grassy - though one of our children struggles to get any height with the thrower it works fine for users 9 to 90 and quickly gets better with a little practice. Because the laucher is so long (26 inches) it is easy to pick up balls without bending.Downsides are possibly price - we paid about fifteen pounds for the thrower and another tenner for an ultra XL ball - but quality is very decent. I find the ribbed grip slightly uncomfortable but others do not - a very minor issue. Given we can consistently get the ball 30 to 40m with every throw our dog easily covers a mile+ of running in a 20 minute session before showing signs of fatigue - a tired dog is a happy dog :)

I expected something fantastic. (After all
For the price I paid, I expected something fantastic. (After all, pound shops sell these!) I rubbed my skin raw from using the cheap ball throwers, so I invested in this as I expected it to throw the ball farther AND that the grip would be easier on my fingers. As to throwing the ball farther, not a bit. It's extremely rigid, as others have pointed out, and it's very hard to get the right technique to throw it. I can throw the ball almost as far just with my arm. (Tip: rotate your whole body backward, and then spin forward while holding and then releasing the ball. It will go twice as far.)Grip is indeed better and has saved my skin. But this factor is outweighed, literally, by the heaviness of the thrower. Would not have spent this much money if I'd been able to test-throw with it first. I'd be better off buying 20 of the cheap throwers at a pound shop.

Impressive to say the least
Not had it long hence I'd not rate longevity and durability. Very sturdy, doesn't hurt hands like cheap throwers. Went to put it away after playing in low light this afternoon and this charged it enough to light up most of a small cupboard. Really impressed. The ball is a whistle ball which surprised us but the boys both love. Would highly recommend and will be getting another in the next month or so
