Good product to help betta tank cycling
This review is for all the packages I’ve purchased, the gems & red rock. Love this product, so far I’ve no complaints w the use & have been adding betta shortly after getting tank(s) set up & water clears. I only wish it came in bags larger than 1lb. & also whether or not you are supposed to drain prior to using.. they’re 2 conflicting directions to this item. The bag says place all contents in tank but the sticker added on says to drain prior to use.. per some other reviews I read, it seems others were adding contents (liquid & stone) to tank. I really like the colors I picked but the red rock is especially lovely & adds nice contrast to the “gems” rock

Love this product
Love this product! It's live and can provide the bacteria that's good for the tank. It actually says to put it all in with the water in the bag, but I really wouldn't do that it made my tank looks really muddy, I would just poured the water out and then put it in. A really nice product.

Not sand but tiny pebbles
I have used these in all my tanks not just bettas. It has the bacteria you need to start up your tanks. Wished it came in bigger sizes.

I rinsed this rock alot because I was putting it in a tank that is established. It was perfect. My betta fish seems to like it too.

Looks great, but needs help to kick start a cycle.
Bought this and some small blue stones for my small 5 gallon tank. They look great, but really did not start the nitrogen cycle like a substrate with active bacteria should. I set it up on a Friday night, and let it filter till Saturday evening as the water was super cloudy like some said. Once it had mostly cleared up I added Dr. Tim’s ammonium solution to it, bringing the ammonia level up to 2ppm, and waited, checking the ammonia levels every day. By Wednesday there was still no change, so I added one of the small bottles of Tetra Safe Start Plus to the filter of my tank. Thursday the ammonia was down to 1ppm, so I brought it back up to 2ppm. Friday it was at .5ppm, so again I brought it up to 2ppm. Saturday the ammonia level was close to 0ppm. I never did see the Nitrite spike, but read that could happen when using the Safe Start, and my Nitrates were through the roof, so my cycle is done. Time to pick out my fish!!!

Love this stuff!
Love this stuff. It is effective at helping to prevent your betta water from turning toxic and poisoning your betta.
