hilmor Vacuum Pump 3 CFM, 1947970

Nicely built pump with good quality feeling. Pulled down to 25 microns for my two-zone mini split system in an hour or so with 100LF of lineset. I was on the fence to go with a bigger pump based on some other reviews and info I read but I’m glad I chose the 3CFM pump and had no issues. I used a Appion hose with 3/8” and 1/4” fittings to a JB core removal tool with COS digi gauge.

The 9cfm is a beast! It pulls a good low micron vacuum in no time. If anything it's over built which is great if you want a hard working piece that will last years. One tip, buy the carry strap. This thing is heavy but the hilmore strap is amazingly comfortable. I bring this thing up 3 story access ladders no problem and no sore sholder. Great vacuum pump! UPDATE: Still going strong. After a year and a half and a 100 installs this thing is bullitproof. With clean oil it works like the day I got it. With a 1/2" hose it pulls sub 100 microns in no time. It's the fastest pump in the company beating out the NAVEC guys who paid more. Love it.

I cannot say exactly what vacuum was achieved using this pump since I was using a gauge graduated in 2" increments, but I was able to pull down to no less than 29.8" on a closed automotive system, twice today. Very well built, quiet, very little oil mist and only at first after starting. Does come with carrying strap. Blanking valve works nicely and unit is equipped with a super quality connection tree with all 3 standard sizes. Maximum vacuum was also achieved in less than 1 minute.

Fast recovery and goes great with the field piece micron gauge.

The machine starts to leak once up to operating temperature. The filler cap leaks, made of plastic and threads into a casted base. The threads are almost nonexistent in the casted base. Oil drain plug leaks not matter how tight it is. The filler cap has a rubber molded cover that basically falls apart once pump gets hot. Would like to get my money back.

First use today. Using it to evacuate a pressure vessel with wood immersed in oil(the final finish). Lovely foaming bubbles. Seems like it works fine. Quite quiet. I think it will turn out to be a quality tool. More in a couple of years.

Hilmar fanboy now. Pricey tools but well worth it. Amazon $ cheaper then any price HVAC supplier can give.

Been in HVAC for 5 years and this is probably the toughest feeling pump I’ve held, love the strap set up for lifting to a roof or on top a walk-in. Time will tell on the longevity, but being as heavy and sturdy as it is id say it’s worth a shot.
