Great Tool!
I love my Wave. I got mine 3 years ago and just bough my girlfriend one too. It is built to the highest precision and operates very smoothly. I torture mine and abuse it on a daily basis and it has held up beautifuly. The knife is still rather sharp without any sharpening in the last 3 years. If I have my leatherman on me I will use it at least once even if its just using it as a letter opener or to sharpen a pencil, its a pleasure to use. I have two complaints about it: my first is that is it rather big and heavy making it uncomfortable to have just sitting in my pocket, however, I bought the pocket clip which holds it at the top of my pocket making it very easy to carry (the sheath is great too). My second complaint is that the screw driver tips wear down fast and need to be replaced often if you desire a very crisp screw driver but mine slightly worn down still work just fine. I will be buying leatherman tools forever and am sure I will own at least one more wave.

Great all-purpose tool.
The tool is well built and perfect for my needs. It seems quite sturdy and everything opens smoothly. It is great that every single tool locks open so you don't worry about them closing on you while using them. I really like having the interchangeable screwdriver tips. They are NOT standard screwdriver tips, but are flattened a bit to fit in the tool. So you'll need to buy the booster set if you want more tip options. You also can't use the tip holder as a hex driver. The nylon sheath seems fairly sturdy, but I haven't been using it for that long yet. Besides the main pocket for the tool, there are two stretchable 'pockets' on each side. The don't have a bottom and seem like they are designed to hold a short pencil or something else of that shape. I chose to put a small screwdriver in one slot and tweezers in the other. Not sure what those were intended to hold but it works for me.

Love this Multi-Tool
I bought this along with the bit driver extension and 40-bit assortment to keep in my vehicle. I've had them less than two months and have already been grateful to have the tool handy in the center console on a few occasions. The included tools combined with the bits meet a lot of common tool needs. I also had bit kit from OSH I now carry in the vehicle, because they work nicely with the multi-tool, as well.I have had trouble with other multi-tools in the past, either for not having the necessary tools or being awkward to use. I have no trouble with this one, and it's comfortable to handle. It's a very reasonable weight, too, not as heavy as some I've had in the past, despite having a great selection of blades. The blades are easily accessed, and the saw is very handy.I wanted the nylon sheath rather than the leather, but found two model numbers (with different prices) that seemed to describe identical products, both with the nylon sheath. A little research revealed the following:830037 - Leather sheath - Box830038 - Nylon sheath - Box830039 - Leather sheath - Clam pack830040 - Nylon sheath - Clam pack.I opted for the 830038, nylon/boxed version, mainly because it was (at least when I purchased) less expensive than the clam pack. I hope this helps anyone else wondering about the various model numbers.

Replaceable bits are silly, very stiff hinges, everything else okay
Brief:- Decent quality, not as good as it used to be- Swappable driver bits on a multi-tool doesn't make sense- Hinges are REALLY stiff and will take a lot of use to wear in- Easy to cut yourself opening the scissors if you're not carefulI'm of the opinion that swappable bits on a pocket multi-tool is a bad idea. If you need drivers more specific than a 1/4" phillips & standard, the job you're working on probably requires more than a multitool (like a toolbox, for example!)I was also blown away by how stiff the hinges on this thing are. After opening and closing it myself about a hundred times, they are tolerable but nowhere near the tension of my old Wave, which allowed for one-handed opening with a strong flick of the wrist.Overall, this does the job. As other reviewers note, though, I think the quality has gone down over time. The push-button release on the handles seems like an improvement, until you consider that it's just more moving parts to wear out. Sure, it's different from having to half fold out another tool to close your open tool, but is that really a problem that needed a solution? Or just change for the sake of change? Finally, watch out for the scissors. The blades are now two pieces instead of three (not a bad thing,) but the way it's configured, you have to fold them out very carefully to avoid cutting yourself, or pressing one of the blade tips against the metal inside the handle.

Sturdy, durable but too hard to lift the blade off
This multitool is so handy. The only problem I have is that the tools are so hard to lift them off. Woman may find it difficult to use it. Anyway, the design is good and durable for house maintenance work.

One Fantastic Multi-tool
The one tool I use every single day. I've been a plumber for over two decades and I'm lost without it. I've used several versions of the Leatherman over the years but I like the Wave Multitool the best.First of all the knife blades are accessed on the outside of the tool. This means that you don't have to unfold the tool to utilize them. The blades are razor sharp and are precision machined so that they are always tight without any play where they attach to the tool.I've used the files, the saw, the screw drivers and pliers to help me diagnose and sometimes even repair my plumbing problems.I only have one complaint with this tool. The pin that holds the scissors together is just a bit loose so it makes it difficult to cut some sorts of material. I don't know if this is a defect on the tool but it does make using the scissors a bit more challenging than I would like.Every one of my Leatherman's over the years, no matter how hard I've used them, have never failed on the job. The only time I've replaced my Leatherman is when I've accidently lost one on the job.
