JOYO American Tube Amp Simulator & Preamp Guitar Pedal, 6-Knob Control with Built-in Cab Sim for Electric Guitar, Bypass (JF-14)

The Joyo American Sound JF-14 is an amp simulator / pre-amp modeled after a Fender '57 Deluxe amplifier. It is intended to be used for direct recording or used to plug directly into your soundboard for live performances. It work great on a pedalboard into either the front of your amp or thru the effects loop. It also a nice way to spice up your headphone amp for quiet practice sessions. It has 6 controls. 3 for your EQ (Low, Medium and High). You then have a Level for output, Voice and Drive. The drive controls your overall gain for overdrive. The Voice control is unique. It helps define the character of the "amp". The manual says the voice "adjusts the frequency response and distortion, together with the adjustment of the drive it can simulate many kinds of amplifiers". So basically using the voice and drive together you emulate anything from a Fender Twin to a Deluxe Tweed. Fender Amps were "The" sound of the 50's and 60's. The sound and tone of this pedal is incredible. I play a mix of 50's, 60's, Surf, Classic Rock and Country. Using this pedal I can go from Buddy Holly to Dick Dale to Steppenwolf without too much effort. It can be used to give you a clean boost, get a mild breakup, a low gain overdrive all the way to a nice creamy overdriven tube amp sound. This pedal is quite versatile. It plays well with other pedals. My chain looks like this...Tuner > Distortion > Joyo Taichi > Joyo American Sound > Chorus > Delay > Reverb > Tremolo. I absolutely love this pedal. Like most guitar players, I have been looking for the "tone". With the Joyo American Sound I have found my "tone". Buy this pedal now! You will not be disappointed.

Bang for your buck for sure. Just an overall amazing sounding pedal. I'm even beginning to appreciate the ugliest of all designs. You may have to fiddle with the knobs a little to find your sweet spot, but a huge variety of organic, tube-like sounds that you can get out of this thing. Also a surprising amount of gain. Lots of character. Takes other pedals very well. I played it live with a boss oc5, blackstar lt dual overdrive, ehx freeze, and keeley caverns delay/reverb > straight into the mixer/PA and it was a killer sound. Highly recommended

Of all of the pedals listed in the Amazon sale, I bought 3 within a short period: Flanger, Digital Delay, & American Sound. I used to have a collection of 70 pedals (mostly Boss, as well as pedals from Keeley, DOD, EHx, Digitech, Whirlwind, Ibanez, Voodoo Lab, Rocktron, etc.) The trio I purchased makes an incredible effect chain: American in front of the amp with the Flanger & Delay in the loop. I tested switching the order of the flanger & the delay, & I found I like the sounds of flanger before delay. If I can get my flanger to sound like a chorus & my delay to sound like a timed reverb, then I'm in tone Heaven! I get that from these Joyo boxes! Considering their cost, I can't believe how sturdy and heavy they feel. All of the reviews you hear/read of these pedals are accurate. The American Sound is based on Fender amps and gets an amazing Seattle tone. It is meant to be used as an amp sim, plugged into a mixer or a flat amp or a pro-audio rig. I have it plugged into the front of an Orange bass amp; the 6 knobs on the pedal and the 7 knobs on my amp give me a huge amount of control over my tone. The Digital Delay is called "digital", but it has a simulated analog tone. I.e., the repeats are programmed to decay. I prefer digital delays with no decay, but this still sounds great! The Flanger tones can be really stretched from subtle chorus and vibrato to airplane flanger and crazy robot sounds. It's a really good quality tone from something so inexpensive. I switched from all the great classic pedals in the past to no pedals and onto these inexpensive pedals. It is great to have this versatile effect chain for barely over $100 - my deliberate protest of the $300+ pedals out there these days.

I give this 4 stars for harmonica pedal boards ...hard to get the tiney sound out for dirty blues ....replaced it with a lone wolf harp attack...but I'll give it 5 stars for the 59 fender stratocaster...does fantastic with guitars not so great for harmonica...overall great buy for the price to experiment..still holding strong still very happy

The first one I bought was defective and I wasn't getting any drive whatsoever. I made the return and tried my luck a second time. At first I noticed the difference and it sounded like the drive was there but was subdued.. I had it plugged into my JOYO Jackman II XL through the FX loop. The controls and on my amp head was were all at 12 o'clock minus the volume. I was curious and maxed the gain since I was running the pedal on my clean channel. The pedal completely took over the Jackman and bypassed the preamp and replaced it with the pedals preamp. Literally turned my amp from a British tone to an American one. Which is the whole point of the pedals tone. Now, I was pleasantly surprised because for $40 this was a sound I didn't know I was looking for, full, bright and sparkly. This really fulfilled those smooth fender cleans from neo-soul, indie rock, to grunge. I originally got this as a versatile pedal to use in both guitar and bass ..but I haven't gotten around to using it on my bass yet. I might just get the tweedy bantamps (which is just this pedal in an amp head casing and has an FX loop) and use that instead for my guitar while this stays in my bass rig, but for now this has earned a spot in my gear there's a lot of tweaking one can do to get other types of fender amp tones (it doesn't do everything, but it's really good at what it does do). My only recommendation is that if you're running this through a bandamp head though the FX loop. Run the gain at max or else it won't sound anything like it's intended to and you might think it's broken. Really great pedal. Might just get the AC Tone for my bass too.

Great volume control. I love the way the pedal honestly works. It sounds just like how a tube amp would from the '60s would great for playing like old rebel country and stuff outlaw stuff

I usually do some sluething to figure out what Joyo is knocking off as a test bed for the real thing. But, I end up just using the Joyo stuff. Nothing that worked out of the box has broken since. This pedal is a fun little guy. Good usable tone with plenty of variety with a little knob tiwddling. You could run two and have a couple of good tonal options. Ran seemlessy to the PA and through an acoustic amp it mimics the control and feel of a good solid state amp. Can just be a boost or drive pedal as well. Not a tube amp by any means, but fits in a gig bag and does a good job. Haven't gigged it yet, but at this price you can keep a backup with ease. I've used it at practice 4 times and it sure bests lugging an amp down to a basement. Bandmates like it run through the PA. Makes mixing a breeze in a room that we tend to keep the volume down. Just an A+ item to keep handy.

Not bad for price. Expected brighter sound. Expected the “British Invasion sounds “. Great value. Easy to use. Great for beginners.

The Joyo American sound is an excellent Fenderish pedal. It appears to be a copy of the Tech 21 NYC Blonde, but as someone who has also owned that pedal, it's a little bit different. The voice control sweeps mid frequencies in conjunction with the gain control to allow a range of Fender Twin, Fender Deluxe, Fender Bassman, Fender Tweed tones, but it takes some time to work out how all the knobs interact to fine tune the sound. I use the pedal with an additional external IR into a PA, but it works well without an IR and sounds good enough for going direct. Much harder to run into a conventional guitar amp unless you can bypass the preamp, but still works that way as an overdrive pedal. It's not exactly the same as the superficially similar Caline American pedal and the Joyo has a battery compartment which can be useful. A remarkable pedal for the money and well built. Perhaps the best cheap guitar pedal on the market?

Good enough as a backup amp on its own for the odd times I play out, and worth the entry fee for that alone Other than that it's also yet another OD but it also works at home as a fun amp to experiment with quietley. My expectations were ballpark good enough versus high end and it's certainly that. I am not a tone chaser or pro recorder feeling I need some for some last nuance, nor do I have ambitions of gigging for a living. I also can't be bothered with sub menus or computer interfaces to get lost in. It's not that I could not I just don't want to fiddle with the current tech as a casual hobbyist. My review is with all that in mind.
