Thus organic dried apples from the grocery store and this pellet were introduced, along with black oil sunflower seeds. She has since come around. We have had this fat girl for approximately four years now. She readily consumes the apples (that she charges for everytime she hears the crinkling of the bag), sunflower seeds, and veges from the garden such as cabbage (she loves), carrots, and greens. She also enjoys alfalfa, timothy, and other hays - but at a reduced portion size due to herbicide usage. I am sure she is getting too much of something, but I feel the oil from sunflower seed is keeping her the most healthy, as well as cabbage and other garden goodies. As the product is organic and most of the soy in this country is contaminated with GMOs it doesn't surprise me there is no soy in it. Our rabbit loves this product. He gets very excited whenever he hears my son grab the bag to feed him. **Q: Does anyone know why it has Sodium Bentonite in it (essentially a clay sealant)? It's high up on the ingredients list too, which is worrisome.** A: Bentonite Clay is not a “sealant” it’s natural and full of beneficial nutrients for the gut. It aides is keeping the gut healthy and helps rid the body of unwanted, unhealthy toxins. I hope this helps and answers your question. Bentonit clay is very beneficial to us as well. Research some info from Natural and reputable site e.g. Wellness Mama, Dr. Weil, Certified Health Nut TroyCasey, MD Mercola etc... **Q: How long would this last if I fed a 1\4 cup a day?** A: I don't always measure out my rabbit's pellets exactly, but she eats about 1/4 cup per day, and according to my ordering history, each sack lasts around one and a half months. **Q: Can my 6 month old rabbit eat this** A: My baby lop-ears have been eating this pellet food since they were three months old. They are fed this once a day, 1/4 cup per bunny. They have Timothy Grass hay all day long and a small salad in the morning. It is the best food on the market and organic which I have not been able to find another organic alternative.
