Baby Monitor to the Rescue...
We went through I don't know... 4 or 5 baby monitors before finding this one. At this point, I don't know if you're going to get a perfect product but for us this one is darn near close. A little background: We had twin boys in December of 2014 -- they were premmie and if you've ever dealt with a premmie you know you're not doing a lot of sleeping... partially because you're scared to death they're going to stop breathing at any moment(but usually while you're trying to sleep) and partially because they're noisy little suckers -- it's like tending to baby goats. We had an additional problem in that the range of the video monitor that we used with our daughter would not reach to our bedroom so we had to come up with another solution. We finally settled on, after much discussion about Russians watching our babies sleep(conclusion, who cares) a Dropcam(now Nest) coupled with an audio monitor might work -- I bought the Safety 1st Baby monitor which worked most of the time, but it also sent over a lot of static and if you left it on too long it would freak out -- it finally broke after a year(it's a good thing because I had developed a strong hate for it) We then tried several more, most of them did not work because of range -- the ones that did were noisier than our baby goats-- The Philips Avent DECT baby monitor was the hail mary toss in baby monitors -- turns out it had no problem with the range AND the big winner is.. if there's no noise, it doesn't make any noise -- AHHHHH, at least for some of the night I now have peace and quiet instead of listening to their rain machine and static all night long -- it has a built in noise gate, which is triggered when ambient noise rises beyond a certain point and it's quite sensitive. We actually place the monitor outside of their door. The first few nights of using it, I was afraid it would not respond if the babies make noise, but it does... every time...I sat there with dropcam(which has a slight delay) and the monitor one night and it didn't miss one baby sound-- I completely trust it now and our quality of sleep has improved dramatically -- I highly recommend this monitor-- Oh and it works with 220v as well, we took it to Germany, yeah ...twin babies in Germany, I don't know what we were thinking....

Very good quality baby monitor
This monitor does a great job. The baby room unit is wired to the power outlet. The remote unit can be run by batteries or by a power cord. We use ours with 2x Amazon-branded rechargeable AA batteries. It requires two AA batteries. The unit will NOT recharge your batteries for you, even if you plug it in. You'll need to use a standard battery charger to recharge the batteries, if you're using rechargeables. It doesn't come with batteries, so you'll need to supply your own. Important Note: it will sound like it's cutting out once in a while, or often. It isn't. It tries to save battery power by only transmitting sound when there's something to send. If the room is very quiet, it won't send any audio at all. If you have a fan running in the background, you'll sometimes hear it and sometimes you won't. This is NOT a problem. It will transmit audio EVERY TIME your baby is making noise. We're in a neighborhood with a lot of WiFi traffic, but not a lot of houses. We have had no noticed interference issues with this monitor set. Also, supposedly the audio is encrypted. This was a requirement for us. I don't notice any lag in audio, though it does take about three seconds for the units to negotiate a conversation before audio starts streaming. These provide only one-way audio. The remote unit does not have any means of sending audio to the baby room unit.

An excellent product especially if you have an invalid that you need to be able to hear at all times.
I really like this. My mom is total care and I had to be within hearing distance in case she needed something and I had bought one from another store and it was useless and this one said it would range up to 1000 feet but when I got it the paper said 950 feet but that is not a problem. But now I can go work in the yard or be in the other half of the house and I can hear if she needs anything and it is very clear. The only thing I wish it had a clip on it so you could attach it to your waist band but I just put it in my pocket and it works but it would be better if it had a clip. The night light does not work but that is not a problem because I don't need it. One of the reviews I read stated that it uses a lot of batteries but I have not had that problem but at night I plug it in to save the battery. I would highly recommend this. One of the reviews states that it is so light that it will not stand up and I agree with that but it works better for me to lay it down anyway.

No frills monitor
My last baby monitor kicked the bucket they night before we were leaving for my in-laws, so I purchased this one based primarily on the fact that with Prime shipping, I could have it delivered to their home the same day we were arriving. Overall, I'm satisfied with it though I wish I had realized that it does not come with rechargeable batteries. You'll need regular, 2AA batteries, if you want to unplug the parent unit AND if you use any sort of white noise machine nearby the baby's monitor - expect the batteries in the parent unit to die very, very quickly. Pros: Basic, no frills monitor - gets the job done Battery saving feature works, so long as you have no ambient noise nearby the babies unit to trigger the audio Ability to adjust volume or place into silent mode (monitor will still light up if crying is detected) Parent unit can be used 'unplugged' with batteries Cons: *I sort of prefer having the audio on at all times, even if baby isn't crying. My old monitor was always on and I found it reassuring to be able to listen in and hear our daughter breathing. The battery saving feature is always on with this monitor, meaning, you can't hear anything unless there is crying or sustained, long enough 'noise' being detected in baby's room. *Battery will die quickly if you use any sort of white noise in baby's room that can be picked up by the baby monitor. We no longer need to use a white noise machine for our daughter to sleep but while we did, it meant always keeping the parent unit plugged in Also, there is no option for the parent to speak through the baby's monitor. I personally don't find this to be a con, as I never found it to be a useful feature on my old monitor that offered it. Overall, I'm satisfied with this monitor. It's no frills and gets the job done. The only thing that would make it better, IMO, are rechargeable batteries and the ability to turn off the 'battery saving' function so that you can always listen in to the audio.

I love this system
I love this system. We've been using it for about 7 months now and it's ABSOLUTELY THE BEES KNEES. Other reviews commented on how it feels a bit too light weight--as in "not quality"--and I bought this expecting to agree with them and not like this detail. However, this monitor surprised me in that it's buid quality is good (and has survived my 4.5 year old throwing it) and the lightweight aspect is much more of a good thing then a bad one: I throw it in my back jeans pocket all the time and can get work done. Range is excellent. I can work in my large yard or basement with the baby asleep on the second story. User interface is brilliantly simple. Two downsides of this otherwise stellar product (that I highly recommend and am glad I purchased): 1) it does eat AA batteries at a good rate (however I should note that I use it a LOT and all of my AA batteries are used from a project I did that basically gave me a lifetime supply of AA batteries, don't ask...so take this comment with a huge grain of salt) and 2) should you forget to plug this in the wall at night and your batteries run out you'll get woken by a dreadful low battery chirp that drives my wife batty. Phillips: are you guys reading this? If you are then please consider replacing the low battery chirp to a light that comes on. The chirp is annoying. However, I'm a SUPER PICKY person. Pay no attention to these gripes. Buy this monitor. I love it. Only complaint is

A very good Baby Monitor
This is a very good product, I've recieved it about a week ago and it is perfect. setting it up took literally 2 minutes. the battery life on the parent unit is great (I use rechargeable batteries from Amazon), the parent unit has an AC adapter in case you want to use it without a battery but you will lose the flexibality of taking it anywhere you want around the house. I live in an appartment, the coverage is great. The really good thing is that you don't hear anything from the parent unit unless the baby unit pick up a sound. it is working perfectly on 220v.

You hear EVERYTHING.
I really wanted to like this monitor because it works with 220v and we are traveling internationally soon. However, this monitor is just too sensitive and picks up the slightest sounds. We have a white noise machine in the baby’s room, and that noise transmitted all night long. I thought the eco mode was supposed to only transmit when sounds in the room changed, but that is not the case. Need to return and buy a vtech one that has sensitivity control... even though those are only 110v rated.

Good basic baby monitor for people who are not overly paranoid
We bought this monitor because it is a basic monitor. We saw no need to go for the expensive, full-color, HD, stereo monitors as we are not paranoid and we are using this to monitor our puppies during the night. The sound is fairly good and it is sensitive. It will also go into a silent mode if nothing is going on. We like that feature. The transmitter and receiver sync up very quickly. The units are a pleasant blue and white. They are moderately small, about 3-1/2" tall and about 2-1/2" wide and about the same in depth. If the transmitter (baby's room) is unplugged, the receiver (adult side) emits a pulsing tone until the transmitter is plugged back in. We feel this is a good basic unit and a fair value for the price.

Abysmal battery life
When the parent unit is not plugged in, the battery dies within 2-3 days. For a relatively expensive piece of equipment, this is entirely unacceptable (and unexpected).

Brilliant range
We live on a farm and I am able to hear down the hill to the house about 20m from my daughter's bed.

A simple monitor that does the job
I’ve waited 6 months before posting a review and have not had any issues with this monitor at all. If you’re looking for a simple monitor that allows you to hear when your baby cries then this does the job. I was really put off by the bad reviews but glad I didn’t pay attention to them. We have a big three storey house and the monitor works great throughout. I leave one end plugged in to the baby’s room all the time and the the other is plugged into the kitchen. The audio is loud enough that I rarely have to take it with me but if I do I just unplug (have charged batteries in there). White noise isn’t really an issue as the audio stops picking it up after a little while but turns on again if there’s a new noise like the baby crying. The only two annoying things are that the monitor will beep if it is turnered on but the receiver is not and that the monitor makes a loud noise when you turn it off. Honestly though hardly an issue. I’m so glad I didn’t spend more on a “fancier” model, this one will do us just great!
