"Awkward" is about the specific incidents in our formative years that define us, sometimes for the best and sometimes for the worst. The show centers around fifteen-year-old Jenna Hamilton, whose life changes when a simple accident becomes a misunderstanding of epic proportions that leads everyone to believe she tried to commit suicide. Season one concluded with Jenna choosing Jake over Matty and the stunning revelation that Jenna's mom wrote the carefrontation letter. Season two will pick up in the aftermath of these momentous events, exploring the theme of resolution as Jenna begins to examine her relationships with her family, friends, and the two guys she's torn between.

In my mid 30s and watching my teen years acted out by others.....AWESOME!
As a woman, of 35 years and a son of just over a year old, I am completely wrapped up in this show. I find myself looking forward to watching this more than the current shows that I DVR. It is every show I "grew" up watching. It's a little bit Dawson's Creek, a little bit 90210 (the actual original version), a little Melrose Place, with some Saved By The Bell mixed in. Ironically enough, I never watched Dawson's until I was in my 20s. Now I find myself, in my mid 30s and loving a show clearly meant for and aimed at those of a much younger generation. I AM that accident prone girl, the girl with bad luck, the girl who, every time something goes right, something else goes horribly wrong for. I love reliving my high school experience through the eyes and misfortunes of someone else. It's like listening to a sad song.....it doesn't mean you're depressed! It makes me happy thinking that someone else lived this or thought hard enough about it being like this to actually make a show about it. Amazeballs! On to season 3! My binge will soon come to a fast and sudden end, but my love of the show will not. I'll simply wait a few years and do it all over again where this leaves off. I can't stand the thought of having to wait week to week. I'm a super movie and TV buff, and this is my scream at the screen show. I adore it! So Awkward!

engaging, entertaining & Funny!
My 24 year old daughter talked me into watching this show on MTV with her. I thought there was no way I would enjoy this show because I'm a 63 year old male and a grandfather. Just one episode of season two had me hooked. To my amazement the show sucked me right into the world created by the great writing and acting by this cast. The show is funny, cleverly written, with a slew of twists and turns that keeps me guessing and entertained. The episodes are only a half an hour long but they fly by leaving me eager to see what will happen next. It's become my guilty pleasure. I wish they were an hour long! The show brings back all those anxieties, crushes, what ifs, and pitfalls many of us have experienced in high school. Yet keeps you entertained and laughing through every twist and turn. It makes me wish I could go back and live those high school and college years again. Give this show a try and you'll be glad you did.

Funny adolescent show
Awkward is a funny show about teen years and the drama of being an adolescent, and the stress of getting ready for college. It is based on typical stereo type cliques being manifest in individuals instead of large groups which is unique. I find it funny and entertaining as they don't take things to far except maybe in making some things a little more absurd than even reality can compare with. But then again that is part of the humor. It is well out of my age group, but for periods of complete brain relaxation and some laughs I find it to be an effective show for that purpose. Like all adolescent shows it will need to close when they graduate high school as much of the humor won't translate to a college campus. But then they could remake the show based on a college atmosphere and keep it going also. I think the show would end on a more positive note if they left the college years for a different cast and crew instead of trying to transition this group to a new environment. But it is fun while it lasts.

You are gonna love it - as long as this isn't your daughter. :-)
I really love this show, very funny and stays focused, there is some "campy-ness", something I usually hate and it works ok on this show. But and there is a but...I guess it's a generational thing (possible spoilers) - if my life had been like hers, first sex at 14, and the boy ignored me, then sex with the best friend, then sex with a kid whose motivation was drugs...I guess I would have very low self esteem about myself, not my body image, I would have felt very used. When I was that age sex was often about _using_ someone to get satisfaction. "Using" is the operative word, stroking your ego, pretending to care, when the only goal is sex. My time would have been 1974 - 78. Being used by any one, for any purpose, is not an ego builder. In this show, there really isn't a feeling of using each other - just some misunderstandings and some immaturity. I guess I'm still trying to come to grips with the casualness of sex of this generation and several generations before it, even. Frankly, I'd like to feel that guiltless - :-) When sex becomes guiltless throughout all generations - then I guess people like me won't hold back on the stars for a great show like this. :-)

I can't believe this show was geared towards Teens!
For those who haven't seen the show "Awkward" - it is based on Jenna, a teen girl (15 years old, I think) who is struggling with the typical teenage angst - who likes me, who doesn't; my mom is so embarassing. You get the picture. She also narrates certain scenes and writes a blog that no one reads. The first episode in the first season starts out at summer camp where Jenna is deflowered by the "hot guy" from school.Since I no longer have any teens in the house, I am not totally up to date on the shows that are being geared towards them. My husband found this series one night while scrolling through the half-hour sitcoms on Amazon Prime. At first we found the show to be pretty funny but I just couldn't stop thinking about the fact that this is the kind of stuff teens are watching. I have a 17 year old granddaughter and I would be embarrassed to watch this with her. But, I am an adult and I have to admit I did enjoy it - for awhile. But, now that I am into season 2, it just doesn't seem as funny. Mostly, I am finding the kids annoying. One thing I can say is at least it's clear that this is a scripted comedy and that the characters aren't real. I can't say the same about so many of the fake "reality" shows that seem to be so prevalent these days.

Moins bien...
