It's a little short at the waist for my liking, but overall, holds me together well. I bought one size smaller than I usually take. The fastenings are both metal clips and a sturdy zip, it's an effective solution for my tummy which could be defined as rotund. I also doubt I'd be able to button up if there wasnt both. I decided to double up with a waist shaper too, the waist shaper adds that extra element of support and smoothing definition around the tummy area.
