Freezes without warning
I bought an Active 20 in February 2020. In June 2020, half way through a walk, the Active 20 froze on one screen. None of the buttons or touch screen areas worked and it would not even power off. Luckily I was on a route that I knew well, but had I been relying on it for information on an unfamiliar route in bad weather, it would have been extremely dangerous. I contacted Satmap, who initially gave some technical advice, but I pointed out that I no longer trusted the machine and asked for it to be replaced. I have had no further communication from them, so I assume that they do not care.

A great unit but I'm worried about the support
I suppose this really has to be the Rolls-Royce of GPS units but it's pricey. On the other hand can get a whole map of the UK including 1:25,000 which seems to be fairly rare for this kind of device. One of my big bugbears is the fact that it has a little rubber bung which covers the USB port which is so poorly designed that it regularly falls often gets lost. I read about this problem elsewhere on the Internet as well. Satmap must know about it but have done nothing to redesign it so if you get one of these GPS units, you will probably find that you end up having to buy more of these covers to shield off any water. What worries me is that even having brought this to the attention of sat map, there has been no response and when I did a review about it on their website – giving it only one star – which is all the rubber bung deserves, the review was never published.I get worried if a manufacturer/supplier of an important item like this doesn't have the confidence to publish reviews that happen to be negative.
