Saw Rods
Not appropriate for Nut Slotting in my opinion. Overpriced or what they are (they are torch cleaning rod tools) made for cleaning a gas cutting torch. Let me know if I am wrong. I was a welder for 38.94 years at the company I retired from. You sent me two sets so I will keep them. Maybe I can figure out a way of using them. I can see why you don't show a picture of them.I must say your write up on the tool is very impressive.

Needs a frame
The problem here is that the rods bend so you cannot file a straight slot. They are good for one job and then the files wear down.
