I soldered a piece of copper plate on the end of each wire lead to the tester, then glued a magnet over the solder so the copper side will stick to the battery terminals. So all I have to do to test ANY battery is to let the magnets jump onto the battery. Really nice deal. You will really know what you have, and that is extremely important in calculating the hours you can operate any device; and you can also track the decline in battery capacity over time and know when to purchase new batteries and not get caught off guard during a hurricane or other disaster, and save money by not prematurely guessing that you need fresh batteries when you don't.

Are these the newer hybrid-NiMH cells with ultra-low/low self-discharge and >80% capacity shelf life per year?

I have read online that EBL NiMH batteries don't hold their charge quite as well as some other brands. They are still an excellent choice.
