How sturdy is the sheeting? For example, if a dog or cat paws at the installed sheet with any insistence, would it puncture and tear?

The banister plastic is really durable. My kids have banged it with items countless times and there aren't even dents. To tie it on, it was was exremely difficult to puncture a hole for the string. I would not that it would tear due to a dog or cat. We have been very happy with it and had never seen one in person before.

In one place this ad says the sheet is 3 ft. (36 inches) wide and in another 33 inches. Would someone be kind enough to verify the width?

The product we got is 33 inches by 15 feet. It is NOT 36 inches.

Can this be screwed to wood posts?

My husband said yes, it comes with a hole punch and tie wraps allowing you to make holes along the edge to attach to whatever you want. However, you can put a screw through any part of it and attach it. It's just a clear sheet of thick plastic mylar.

How can i "uncurl" or flatten it. I need it flat and the roll it came in made it too rounded

The plastic will flatten out as you attach it to the banister railing.
