An excellent Gunpowder Green BUT
I've consumed two full pounds of Numi Organic Gunpowder Green tea before writing this review. I found this product to be flavorful and really appreciated the fact that it's organic. I'm not normally an "organic" type, but considering the amount of tea I was drinking, combined with the nature of tea being steeped leaves, I figured it's a smart safeguard. I do prefer the flavor of Twinings Gunpowder over the Numi Organic, but for the health safeguards and price per ounce differences, I was happy with Numi. I will admit that I noticed a difference in flavor between my first and second pounds of this tea. Given the number of variables in growing and processing tea, I'm not surprised, nor disappointed enough take a star away from my vote. HOWEVER, just prior to ordering my third pound of tea I stumbled into the Fluoride discussion by accident. Long story short, after about two weeks of research (both internet and books) I'm done with tea of any color. This is a personal decision and I won't try to sway anyone's opinions, but feel I owe the world's tea drinkers a free heads-up since someone extended the courtesy to me. I LOVE tea, and never imagined in a million years that I'd quit drinking it------------especially green, since it's loaded with polyphenols (antioxidants), and is therefore deemed "healthy" if Fluoride is taken out of the equation. So if you like a green tea, Numi Organic Gunpowder is a great value, excellent quality, and I would be drinking my third pound by now.

Even better than the Teabags - Worth the trouble. Update: Wow. Company Really Responsible.
Gorgeous, soft taste, invigorating. Don't forget to eat something before. I practice scooping the tea leaves out with a spoon, not too much trouble after a while. I alternate sips with little raw honey+raw chocolate balls I make, tastes brilliant. Wonderful in the morning when I need to get going but don't want to turn into a bug-eyed psycho with coffee. Update: 11/29/2024 - Not sure what happened to my last update but I'll add it here. Found a piece of what looks like colored packing material for rice in my cup after I'd made tea, very uncomfortable and no idea what's in it if it's toxic. Hope this doesn't happen again. Also, more recently have been finding a LOT more stems in packages, hope you can stay on top of this. Update: 12/24/2024 - Pleasantly surprised. Company jumped right on it and gave me a refund. Not many companies you find these days step right up to take responsibility!

I TOTALLY support Numi's FAIR TRADE Business Practices. And, this GUNPOWDER Green Tea's GREAT!!!
I saw a Reviewer who liked this Gunpowder Green Tea, so I thought I'd try it. Plus, I really like the Business Practices of NUMI, putting in place "FAIR TRADE" Practices, so the Local Growers, who are usually just Small Farmers, can get Increases to their Incomes to Finance their Children to go to College and University, and I am ALL FOR THAT!!! I had usually been Infusing Green Teas at +175F, but someone told me to try it at a Much Lower Temperature, but for a Longer Infuse Time, so I did this one at +135F, and let it Sit for 30-minutes. WOW, the Green Tea Taste really came out!!! THIS is HOW I'm going to Brew all my Green Teas from now. Those other recommended Water Temperatures are all Too High, IMHO, but you try it. So, now, this NUMI GUNPOWDER Green Tea, has become my "Go To" Green Tea, whenever I'm in the Mood for Green Tea, and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT... rating it 5-STARS!!! I say, "GO FOR IT!!!" :o)

Great Gunpowder Green (alliteration included)
I've had many brands of gunpowder green, and this is just fine, especially for the price. Many quality organic gunpowder greens run almost double this. As a reformed coffee drinker, I drink A LOT of green tea. I drink a pot or two throughout the day, until I switch to a caffeine free herb tea in the late afternoon. Gunpowder green is a long standing favorite, I drink gallons of it. This Numi arrived fresh, extremely tightly packed pinheads (which is a good thing), that fully expanded on brewing. Nice aroma, nice taste. I won't say there is anything extraordinary about it, but for the price it is an absolutely superior ORGANIC gunpowder green. There are other brands that are less expensive, and they taste stale and there's a lot of dust in the product. Other brands are more expensive, and although you may want to keep a tin of more expensive green tea on hand for special occasions, for daily consumption, this is a great choice. Organic, fresh, good taste, no bitterness, and the pin heads are really, really tight, which means a little goes a long way. I have this on Subscribe and Save, now. As for bugs, my bag have arrived fine, pest free. Completely satisfied.

Great tea at a good price
Product: Numi Organic Tea Gunpowder Green (16 oz) I've tried several other popular bulk brands of gunpowder tea from both China and Japan, and many of them brewed up too murky/dusty and/or oxidized to varying degrees. Loose perls almost always have a better flavor and longer shelf life than bagged versions (which are basically single servings of tea dust, often oxidized), however as in all things, there are many levels of quality and you generally get what you pay for. This particular brand of gunpowder tea is far above average, and offers a lot of bang for the buck: > Consistently fresh (not oxidized like many cheaper bulk varieties). > Air-proof packaging. > Nice tight 'perls', with minimal breakage and minimal tea dust. > Organically grown. It brews up a very clean clear pale chartreuse color (with only a trace of fine sediment), with a flavorful and gently herbaceous edge that's not too bitter (provided you dont brew it too long or too strong), and it can be enjoyed hot or cold, and with or without condiments. In my household, we mostly lean towards plain and unadorned, but sometimes switch to a little honey with either milk or lemon. Note: Although FAR less dusty than most, a small trace of fine sediment is unavoidable when brewing ALL loose teas, and this one is no exception. The small traces of sediment that appears in the bottom of the pitcher after straining is normal and doesnt affect flavor. However, if you're a stickler for pristine appearance (say, for a dinner party), you can easily run the strained tea though a paper coffee filter to obtain a perfectly clear appearance. Recommended. Brewing instructions (for 1/2 gal): If I'm brewing several days worth just for myself, I'll fill a 3 qt stainless steel sauce pan with just over 2 qts water, heat it to 180F on my induction plate (about 6-7 mins), turn off the heat, then add 1/4 cup of tea pearls and let it steep for exactly 3 mins. Then I'll pour it though a small fine mesh conical strainer into a pyrex pitcher and refrigerate it for up to a week. Anytime I want some, I'll pour it straight from the fridge and drink it straight (cold) or briefly reheat it to tepid in a microwave safe mug.

Organic FT Green...
I have been drinking tea for decades, few cups a day. A decade ago, I would not care for organic but these days I insist on it due to many chemicals used by tea growers. The fact is although they should not, they do and tea is one of the worst items when it comes to pesticides unless it is organic, Fair Trade, from a reputable producer and seller. I drank Yerba Mate for a year but not only the sellers have changed and the price has doubled, I did not like that it has the potential of offering cancer, so back to ten cups of tea once again, but only if it is green, FT organic, produced by trustworthy producer and sold by a reputable seller like Amazon. In addition to tea, I love ginger, fresh ginger's smell and taste. I cut and place fresh ginger in the percolator with the green tea and wolla, my whole house smells great, I love the taste of the combined ginger and tea, get all the health benefits of the ginger and feed the tea and ginger in the percolator to my plants which they appreciate much. This is the best way to consume ginger since I can not place that much ginger at a time when cooking my exotic dishes because it impacts the taste to greatly. Numi's organic gunpowder green tee, fresh cut ginger and chamomile gives me what I am after. To understand what green tea, ginger and cinnamon have in common, check out the study. Link provided in comment section. Bravo.

Really nice tea
This tea is really nice, a good strong flavour and lots of it. Just a pinch is all you need. I like it better than the twinnings gunpowder green that I used to buy.

My favourite!
Always fresh and clean. I've probably bought 10 bags of this since it became available. Really good quality; you can make several cups with the same leaves like you're supposed to. Remember to wash them initially in hot water for a few seconds, and then pour fresh water over them to steep; this removes the natural bitterness. Enjoy!

Great tasting green tea
After reading PFOA's in tea bags I bought loose tea. Tastes so much better than store branded tea in bags. Don't need much for a pot.
