Let the Drone Wars begin
Dale Brown gives us another good military novel. This time he tackles the art of fighting via drones, but not just the slow drones that fly high and drop ordinance from the sky to take out terrorist. This time it is drones that are fast, highly maneuverable and capable of fighting in pairs or groups in air to air combat that will drive most pilots to land and never go up again. The artificial intelligence capability of a drone in comparison to the human brain seems to be no contest. The AI can process faster, deliver more options and well, learn. Then put into place a drone without a pilot that can pull an enormous amount of G-Forces in sudden turns, dives, flips, etc. and you have a weapon that can't be beat. A human pilot would black out from the G-force of the turns of the drone. Thus while blacked out he is shot out of the sky.Brown brings his own flying with the military to bear on this novel and knows what he is talking about. With a rogue agent doing his best to build and fly his own drone air force we have an enemy that may be beyond our ability to take out. Thus the President of the United States must turn to it's clandestine group of elite technicians, computer developers and military personnel to find and destroy this rogue operation. All the while they are having to do this while not starting a war with China who is not happy with the USA for being in their backyard and flying what appears to be military operations that could endanger the Chinese. The book is well written, the technology is well documented, the air to air fighting tactics are fabulous. All in all if you love Military Novels you will find this most enjoyable.

Some readers have neither the interest nor the knowledge to appreciate warfare technology in books with lots of it.
After 40+ years designing state of the art combat weapons platforms (air, surface, sub-sea, satellite) and mission management scenarios, I have high standards for technology plausibility. In my techno-thriller reading, the more and higher the tech, the better. Still, we need more techno-thrillers by military technology experts than by (for example) aircraft pilots. Often the weapons platform crews don't have high enough DoD security clearances and weapon-specific compartments to know much about some of the systems on their platforms. But the weapons and platform designers are usually constrained by their security clearances from speculating and extrapolating publically (e.g., in techno-thrillers) about even hypothetical current and future warfare technologies. Some readers have neither the interest nor the knowledge to appreciate technology in books with lots of it. They should stay away from the Brown, Clancy, etc. genre.

I recently gave a pretty disappointed review of Starfire
I recently gave a pretty disappointed review of Starfire, the book just didn't deliver the typical Dale Brown performance, I decided to give one of the Dreamland series books a try, so I read this and Drone Strike back to back and I'll have to say the stories were so much better constructed, I like the protagonist (Turk) much more, and the action seemed much more thought out. I'm beginning to think DeFelice might be more responsible for some of these later stories.

though there are some areas such as when the villain supposedly kills his thought to have been the love of his life
Dale Brown's depiction of a potential utopian paradise is OK, though there are some areas such as when the villain supposedly kills his thought to have been the love of his life, or why she shunned him, and left this reader wondering just how the guy escaped being killed or captured, leaving me with the feeling that there may/will be a sequel. Other than thais, it is an OK read fit the summer evenings, while sipping some cool libations in the back yard.

Dale Brown knocks another one out of the park in his ever-continuing series of techno-thrillers.
Dale Brown continues to excel in the genre of Air Force/Militaria techno-thrillers. As a person who has read everyone of his works, I am already anticipating his next release. He can't crank them out fast enough to satisfy my appetite. Of course, that is why his works are of such quality, they are not cook-book. Most of his works are intertwined with previous stories, in other words progressions. So if you are looking for a first time Dale Brown work, I would suggest going back to the beginning with "Flight of the Old Dog" and build from there.

Great read, full of adventure. Added more to the mysteries of the dream land mystery. Look forward to more but hard to know which is next.

Dale Brown writes a page turning technothriller again!
Dale is the master of this type of military high tech book. Only the late Tom Clancy (RIP) was his equal. I have always loved the "Dreamland) set of characters. You don't need half a book to know who's who. Once I start one of these, I can't stop till I'm done. My wife has found me up in the middle of the night, saying I'm just going to finish this next chapter. Never have I been disappointed in one of Dale Brown's books. You should buy this book, and then the rest one by one.

Another dreamland book at its best
I have always enjoyed reading the Dreamland series of books. This one again was a great follow up to the other books. We see the team have to take on some of their own technology. I very much hope that Dale will continue to write more books. Could we see Zen has the next president?

Routine activity or patrols and their conversations do not make exciting reading. Ditto between a husband and wife!
