What does “fingertip thickness 5.5mil” mean??

A mil is one thousanth of an inch so 5.5 mil=0.0055 inch. A medical light duty glove is usually about 3mil so the 5.5- 6mil thickness is a medium duty glove. You can also get a heavy glove which has a thickness of about 8mil. I use the 5.5 and 6 mil glove as a diesel mechanic. They are fairly tough without loosing fingertip sensitivity like in the 8mil.

Can these gloves be use in food preparation?

Yes, these gloves meet ASTM D6319, FDA 21 CFR 177-2600 (Food Contact Safe).

Are these gloves made in the U.S.A.?

Gloves I got were made in Malaysia.

Are these gloves black?

I bought the gloves, they were dark blue. The company say that's black. But it's not.
