Don't want to be left out in the cold?Want a reliable and efficient way to keep warm? The Ninja Outdoorsman Emergency Fire Starter with Compass and Whistle is for you!!This fire starter tool will last well over 12,000 strikes and with a spark that burns at 3000°C (5,500°F)The whistle sends out a high pitch sound at 120+ decibels to scare off wildlife or to help be found in a survival situationThe compass provides an accurate source of direction to keep you moving towards your destination.Don't waste your time and money on smaller strikers. Ours is large enough to get a good grip with gloves on! Directions for fire starter use:1. Gather kindling and tinder for your fire.2. Does the Job
This item is pretty good. The string is not real parachute cord but that is not a big issue. The material seems harder that some of the swiss-made versions. The softer materials allow for a bigger spark. You can get the same size spark but you have to work a little harder for it. The whistle is loud. I don't have a decibel measurement to share but it will do the job of drawing attention / signalling. The compass is adequate and moves freely (as it should). My only constructive criticism is quite a personal preference. I don't like the dangling metal part. I would love to see that captive to the main part. Perhaps a long slot to put the blade into that holds it. The reason / purpose of this for me was give to someone that would need 3 things if they went for a walk in the woods with their dog in the evening and then found themselves lost after dark: A whistle, a compass and a flashlight. Having the fire starter was a bonus. This does notave a light and so it was not selected; however, I bought it to see the quality of the product and to test it. I would consider this product again. h

If you can tell us what we are doing wrong we will be happy to keep it
We are considering returning it. We bought it for our 8 year old grandson’s birthday because he wanted to try to start a fire in case he ever gets stranded in the woods- which of course will never happen until he is at least 16 or does it with the Boy Scouts. My husband tried and tried to start a fire with it before giving it to him. I also tried it to no avail. There were no directions with it. We got it to spark but it would not make any flame out of small paper confetti or sawdust so now his birthday is over and he did not get his gift. If you can tell us what we are doing wrong we will be happy to keep it. Please advise.

Doesnt work
I picked these up to teach my nieces about survival skills but they dont work. We have to use a different knife to start a fire because the blade it comes with doesnt work, nor does the compass. I'm very dissatisfied. Cant return it since we messed then up trying to get a fire. Dont waste your money.

Big spark
The sparked itself is great, the sawblade part is almost useless. Throws a great spark though.

fine sparker, you get what you pay for
works as advertised, if you want a sturdier handle or thicker striker bar you'll have to pay for it - but it works fine and starts tinder all day long if you know what you're doing

Great sparks
The compass is cheap as all of those little plastic compasses are, but having a whistle on an inexpensive fire started was a great idea. These generated great sparks.

Worth it
Good purchase!! I ordered the 5 pack because I knew I’d give a few of these away. I love products that have multiple purposes, and all of them do their job well.
