Supplements, Psyllium Husk Caps 700 mg with Apple Pectin, 180 Veg Caps

I have used Psyllium Husk caps for at least a year. I feel I need a boost of fiber to help my regularity, and these seem to fit the bill. The product states that psyllium has the ability to swell up to 50 times it's initial volume when added to liquid. Suggested serving is two capsules with an 8 oz. glass of liquid two to three times daily. I have used this twice daily with sufficient results. I have read every body is different and although some prefer a daily movement, it isn't necessary for everyone. This doesn't cause me to go daily (never have), but it does appear to help the...ahem...quality of my movement, e.g. giving it the...uhh...bulk/shape/texture that is advised to be most healthy. It is important to take this with the recommended amount of liquid to prevent choking. There have been a couple of times I've taken this and felt a capsule was "stuck" in my chest. I believe this was due to either not taking in enough liquid or taking this in the evening soon before laying down for bed. Keep that in mind. I used to take Fiber Choice Sugar Free Assorted Fruit 220 tblts, but wanted something more natural without added sweeteners and ingredients. The ingredients are Psyllium Husk Powder (seed), Apple Pectin Powder, Gelatin (capsule), Magnesium Stearate (vegetable source), Stearic Acid (vegetable source) and Silica. I trust the Now brand, and think these work much better. I purchase this on Subscribe and Save because I plan to continue using it for a long time. Purchase a smaller bottle on Amazon to see if it gives you the desired effect.

Unfortunately for me I am plagued with Severe IBS and stomach problems that change with the seasons. I have a very hard time just functioning every day because you never know what you are going to wake up to. The last flair I had cost me a job and sent me to the ER multiple times. After thousands of dollars in medical tests the best they can come up with is that its IBS and good luck. Lovely huh? I have tried everything on the market for stomach issues. You name it I have bought it and taken it. Recently I have been debating if I am getting enough fiber though I eat mainly produce and avoid meats. After reading the reviews for these pills I decided I had to try it. Many people seem to have similar stomach issues and have found this helped. I have taken this for a week gradually working up to two doses a day. It has already helped. I go more regularly and for me it was a need to keep the consistency the same as to not mess with the bunghole too much more than average after the hell its been through the last 5 years post kidney surgery.The best thing I have notices so far is that this helps curb my appetite and keeps something in my stomach which I have to do. If my stomach acids get too much or I get too hungry I risk nausea and dry heaving. I actually take tums with me everywhere for this very reason. These pills helped keep something in the gut so that it didn’t get overwhelmed when hungry.

I’ve been taking this product for years. It works well for me.

I find that taking these at the end of a meal does not have the desired effect. It seemed as if I would have a tiny, healthy poo after my big uncomfortable poos if I took them at the end. Now, I typically will take two in the middle of a meal - one which I feel is lacking in fiber - or right before I start. This method definitely has the desired effect. My problem is usually constipation, so soluble fiber supplements (I used Benefiber) seemed to make the problem worse. Taking this has completely changed my bathroom experience. No more straining, no more sitting forever and feeling like I still have more up in there. Seriously, great product.On a side note, I also like that this supplement has soluble fiber as well, since that supposedly feeds your gut bacteria, but I have no way of verifying this.

Cannot believe that I have gone all these years without this amazing fiber! My gallbladder was removed in 1998. I’ve had terrible bouts with my bowels. Could not leave a restaurant until I made sure I had relieved myself! I have experienced the terrible side effects of not having a gallbladder by what they are calling BAM-instant BILE dumping. I recommend this to anybody who has issues with loose bowels and or constipation, in my case extremely loose, sometimes 6 to 7 times a day! I was recommended after having a colonoscopy screen to take them at night time if you have extremely loose bowels. I noticed immediately relief, but in three days it’s almost like I’m regular! By the way I personally take two at night time with about 6 ounces of water. Don’t wait, this could be your answer to relief!

There is something odd about the capsule for these. Even swallowing only one at a time these scratch my throat or try to get stuck. I can swallow 3 of the 500mg capsules (same brand) at a time with no problem. I have much larger fish oil and multis I take as well with no problem. Not sure what it is with these, or if maybe I got a bad batch but I had to throw my bottle away. Back to the 500mg size which work well. I was hoping to lessen the number of pills taken daily, but not worth the danger of choking or the discomfort of a scratched throat.Update:I accidentally ordered a second bottle (still had the 500mg and 700mg in my list). On the second bottle, the capsules are noticeably thinner and smoother. They are MUCH easier to swallow. Upgrading to 3 stars for now. Will probably refill with these again and may increase stars again. They work just like the powder or 500mg, so my only problem was the capsule on the first batch I received .

If you cannot take Isapgol/Psyllium husk in powder form(mixed with water) like me then this is the best option.Also, the Pectin added helps!

The pills don't help at all. Tried increasing the dosage as well but doesn't work.
