Clifton and Morenci Mining District (Images of America)

Terrific memento for those who grew up in Morenci/Clifton or nearby, or who simply like history and mining memorabilia. Nice chapters on various aspects of the towns and the industry. Especially poignant, since the original town of Morenci, Arizona was gradually obliterated by the open pit mining process and these photos are all that remain, along with artifacts and photos in the Greenlee County Museum.

Wonderful imagery of my home town. The history is fascinating and you'll love trying to identify where the old photos were taken in relation to childhood memories. It would be great to have included some maps rather than having to jump through the mental exercises of the location descriptions. All my family are getting this for Christmas.

I grew up in this one-of-a-kind mining town. The photos in this book bring back many memories. The Morenci I knew is long gone: the town site, the hospital, the schools I attended, the homes we lived in, were all torn down or buried, engulfed by the expanding open pit mine. Many thanks to the authors for their research into the history of this interesting area and especially for all the old photos..

Nice addition to the series with some wonderful photographs of an area with a fascinating and historically significant past. Very enjoyable reading!

Wonderful historic chronicle in an amazing journey of small town America!! I grew up here and learned new & fascinating information about the towns I love!!

Very good history of my mother's home town. I wish there could have been pictures and stories of families who lived there.
