Eye-opening read for a biochemistry scientist
The value of this book is vast to people in all stages of life from infants to the elderly. As a scientist who has developed autoimmune disease over my life, I never realized the potential negative impact that the chemicals developed in our world has on on overall health. Couple the chemical impact in our environment with our food supplies and the decreasing nutrients in those foods over the years and it is no longer a surprise why societies have such high rates of degenerative mental and physical disease. This book is a guide to identifying and eliminating chemicals in your world that are most impactful to you and your family. Not every chapter is for every person. It is well organized so that each person can find and bookmark the sections most relevant to them for future reference. Make no mistake - this is a reference guide to change the manner in which you think about the chemicals that have become so prevalent in our lives. It is a guide to help us live cleaner lives which ultimately will improve our quality of life so that we can enjoy it for the duration on earth. Living well into the 80s or 90s is great as long as one is healthy enough to enjoy it. Starting to change your life or the life of your loved ones happens in baby steps, not overnight. This book brings awareness to seeing the items that can and do harm to us in little ways over time. Once awareness is there, there are practical suggestions that can be implemented over time to decrease chemical exposure. For those on a journey to better health due to illness, remember that it took a lifetime to build up these toxins and get a diagnosis for the present health state. It will take time to undo those years of exposure. Reading 'Non-Toxic' is step one to undoing those years. For those in good health, it is step one to keeping your health that way.

This is an important book, but don't get the Kindle version.
Non-Toxic is a collaboration between a physician and a pioneer researcher in the field of endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs). Research in the field of EDCs challenges approaches to risk assessment used by federal agencies, showing that chemical exposures disrupt development at doses thousands of times lower than had been previously estimated by the FDA and EPA to cause no effect. Dr. vom Saal is one of the courageous researchers in the field who has testified about the hazards posed by environmental endocrine-disrupting chemicals in numerous state and national legislative and regulatory bodies. Dr. Cohen is a board certified rheumatologist, integrative medicine specialist, and environmental health expert in Princeton, New Jersey. She is coeditor (with Dr. vom Saal) of the textbook, Integrative Environmental Medicine. This book is both comprehensive in its coverage of environmental hazards and useful in terms of supplying actions the reader can take to avoid them. Since it is especially valuable for parents and parents-to-be, I plan to be giving copies of this book to my young friends and family members.I read "Don't put your laptop on your lap" as I was reading the Kindle version from my laptop on my lap. However, that is not the reason I recommend against the Kindle version. There were several places where multiple pages were skipped, and I was not able to get a complete version with the help of Amazon. In fact, I found sections in the "Look inside" feature that I could not find on the website.

Dr. Aly Cohen’s Wonderful Book
First of all, I usually read novels, but the title of this book intrigued me ,as well as living through a pandemic, thinking I can use all the help and advise I can to live a healthy life. This book hooked me in from the personal , warm introduction to the valuable information which I will use from now on. It is never too late to try to develop healthy habits. I felt enriched by this easy to understand self-help book. I also like the fact that you can read it from beginning to end, or use the index for specific information. I purchased an extra copy for a friend. It makes a caring present as well as a good, informative read. Thank you Dr. Aly Cohen for writing this book.

Amazing Read!
Unsure what to expect, I picked up a copy of this book and have found it so accessible and enjoyable to read so far. Aimed at the layperson and packed full of digestible information, its a really well written and helpful text compared to some of the more esoteric and difficult to approach books I've come across in the past. Also such an important topic that we need to learn more about, and this is a really well informed, well educated, and evidence supported place to start living a healthier lifestyle.
