Mine was just on the surface. The interior color was very noticeable when I nicked the ring. I no longer wear this ring. I went back to a solid black ring that I worn previously.

Q: My fiance broke his ring finger and the bone didn't heal properly resulting in circumference of 3 3/16. Do you make it in that size (17)?

I'm so sorry to hear that! At this time, we have certain styles that go up to a size 15. The do stretch slightly when putting them on, but I do not believe it will be enough to fit 3 3/16.
