Review: Comfortable and easy. Less painful periods! - Despite a high pain tolerance and having 3 kids, I have always been squeamish about tampons and used pads most of my life. About 4 months ago I started using tampons but I have heavy periods and the cost of a couple boxes or non toxic ones every month, plus nighttime pads, was breaking the bank, so i decided to give this a try - the gold standard for non tox, sustainability, and budget. I was expecting it to be really hard to remove but it was actually quite easy. It’s comfortable, holds a lot (I was bleeding through a super plus tampon on 4 hours on heavy days, and this lasted me about 8 and was only 3/4 full). Here are my highlights: -it made my periods LESS PAINFUL. I have had 5 periods postpartum with my third child. They make me wish for pregnancy again. They have been so heavy, so painful, just agonizingly miserable from start to finish. And I have a downward and outward pushing sensation the entire time, like my uterus is trying to crawl out of my body. Probably a sign my pelvic floor is weaker this time around. But when I wear this cup, that feeling is GONE. I was comfortable and even forgot I had a period for most of the week, and lest you think it’s my hormones balancing (like I also suspected), on the last day I wore a panty liner with no cup, and the sensation was back. It’s like the cup offered me some mild splinting and support. So if you have this feeling during you periods, see a pelvic floor therapist. But also buy this cup. You will be rejoicing. -it can shift and leak during workouts, especially if it’s very full. I started emptying it before workouts with no issue. But other than that, I didn’t experience leakage. -a few times it didn’t expand all the way when I inserted it, and few minutes later it popped all the way open on its own. This is good news and bad news: it’s a sharp and sudden sensation for a split second when it fully opens. But it’s reassuring to know that at least in my experience, it’s never had a faulty seal that caused leaking (other than when working out). I have a retroflexed uterus, which can make using a cup more challenging for some. But this cup is plenty soft enough for me, and I find that the easiest angle for inserting is while on the toilet rather than in the shower as some recommend. It holds so much. Like I mentioned, I have very heavy periods lately and using disposable products was getting too expensive, I just went through a ridiculous amount. I am convinced that I could wear this cup for close to a full 12 hours even on my heaviest days, and—one of the best parts—it’s safe to wear all night long.
Review: Life-Changing & Mess-Free Sex: Very Positive Review from a Nervous Skeptic Turned Firm Believer!!! - 5 stars all the way! I cannot express how game-changing this disc is. Here’s an overwhelmingly positive review from a certified internet-researching skeptic! I am finally FREE from period worries & stress! Within 24 hours of using this product, I KNEW my period life was forever changed. I’m now on period number 3 of using it and I can’t find the words to express how life-changing this disc has been for me. No more worrying about bleeding through tampons or having to time my bathroom breaks every 1-2 hours to make sure I would be ok while I’m at work. No more uncomfortable cramping from tampons or worrying about if I have enough tampons on me when my period decides to show up on its irregular schedule. No more spending $1,000+ a year on dumb period products because being a woman is a scam and these necessary materials aren’t provided to women for free like they should be. This is literally a “set it and forget it” kind of situation. It’s also true to the claim this product makes: this is truly a mess-free period sex solution! I am beyond amazed at how little mess there is, and it’s still easy to remove afterward to clean and replace. Definitely wash and replace after sex! I will note the following things to be mindful of: - I do feel like I need to pee more often, but not overwhelmingly so or a worrisome amount more. I think it’s more that the disc is filling up, so I feel like I need to go more often. There’s a *very* slight pressure, but everyone is different and I barely notice it at all especially compared to how noticeable tampons are for me. You can auto-dump (empty the disc without removal by bearing down) very easily throughout the day when you use the bathroom (the first time I did it I didn’t even mean to, but now that I know how easy it is it’s such a relief and has no mess afterward). It’s also kind of interesting to visually see and know how much is in the disc as my period progresses so I know in the future if anything seems abnormal. - It is very easy to remove and replace the disc. I wear it all day for 12 hours and then overnight for the same. In the morning it can be a little more difficult to remove, but if you sit up/stand and walk around for 5-10 minutes and loosen up your muscles it becomes much easier to remove. I usually get out of bed and get ready for my day or read a chapter of a book (~10 minutes of not lying down), then remove and wash/replace it and it’s a breeze. - I’ve found that if you break the seal the disc makes throughout the day when removing it by pinching the lip of the disc between two fingers to pull it out it’s pretty easy to remove. Just stay calm and breathe deeply; it will never get lost inside and can always be removed. Pro-tip: Wash your hands with the pH soap and leave your fingers wet for removal and replacement! It makes everything so, so much easier to do. Side-notes on other Saalt purchases: - I’ll be picking up the smaller (Coral) version of this disc for use during the last half of my period, as I don’t feel I need the larger size past the first 2-3 days and think it will alleviate the feeling of having to pee as much. - I purchased the pH-balanced soap that Saalt sells, and it’s amazing. I am insanely sensitive/allergic to almost every kind of soap on the market, and this doesn’t bother me at all. I’m allergic to fragrance and sulfates, so I was initially worried about the scent it has but it doesn’t cause me any allergies and actually smells really nice and is incredibly faint. Highly recommend this wash! A little goes a long way so the value is great too. - I also purchased the Saalt steamer because I am very lazy and don’t want to boil the disc before and after my cycle. The first one I bought was broken, but my quick and easy replacement has worked wonders since. Highly recommend picking it up! - I’ll be picking up the compact travel sanitizer case to carry my disc with me on days I’m expecting my period to maybe start and for the just-in-case situations where I need to clean it on the go but don’t have an easily accessible private bathroom. It took a little getting used to for learning how to remove the disc easily (1-2 days), and it can be kind of messy the first 2-3 days. It definitely wasn’t nearly as difficult to learn to use as my internet researching lead me to believe, so definitely try it out if you’re interested and don’t be hesitant if you’re afraid of a learning curve. I do wish there was a slightly better lip for removal on the disc but it’s pretty decent and if there was more to grab on to I think it might make wearing it less comfortable during the day so they’ve struck a pretty perfect balance here. I remove mine over the toilet and it’s really not bad at all! I really can’t recommend this product enough! I’ve told all my female friends about it and now they’ve all switched to using it and can’t stop raving about how it’s changed their life and thanking me for the recommendation! :) I don’t write many reviews - I’m a 10-hours of research on the internet and reddit for any purchase I make and highly skeptical of reviews kind of gal. I’m here writing this with the hope that I can ease the minds of anyone who has done the internet research and is still on the fence from the handful of reviews that say menstrual discs are difficult to use and require a long learning curve. It took me less than 48 hours to master how to use this disc and I will never ever ever go back to using any other period product for the rest of my life. Good luck & happy periods ladies!! :)

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is your product tested on animals?**
A: Saalt Cups are not and never will be tested on animals. The actual silicone material used to mold our cups has not been and will never be tested on animals.

Because FDA standards require animal testing to demonstrate the safety of silicone used in Class II medical devices, the silicone formula we use is based on a history of animal testing that is required for approval, but thankfully no on-going testing is required. Thanks for checking!

**Q: Hello, i accidentally ordered the wrong size cup. can i return the cup and order the smaller size or should i contact the seller about it?**
A: I would check with amazon customer service. If they're unable to accept the return contact Saalt, they have a satisfaction guarantee

**Q: What do you do when the cup goes up too high and is hard to take out? Is there a way to prevent this from happening? I’ve had to lay down to remove it**
A: This happened to me once and I read about it and the best way is to relax and push down with your muscles, the cup eventually will come back down to a reachable position. I think in my case it happened because I leave it inside for too long and I also worked out before which probably modified the cups position.

**Q: How do you wash the little holes near the rim?**
A: Hi there! One simple method for cleaning the air holes is to fill the cup with water, place your hand over the cup, flip and squeeze to pass water through the air holes. You will probably want to do this carefully over a sink or the toilet since the water can shoot quite far if you squeeze hard! However, if anything has been left to dry in the air holes and boiling your cup did not soften it enough to be easily cleared with our water cleansing method, we do have another handy trick! Fold your cup along each air hole to gently stretch it out, and wipe with a piece of toilet paper. Do this for all four air holes. You'll notice that our air holes are at an angle, so you'll need to flip your cup inside out and clean the other side, as well. And voilà! Clean air holes!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ GYN PA-C and Body-aware girl approved!!
*by G***G on May 29, 2025*

I waited to write this until after three-four months of use, but I knew after the first use, that this was a game changer. I’m going to share my experience below as well. I’m at an advantage knowing pelvic anatomy, but knowing where your pubic bone is and what it feels like is the name of the game. The disc tucks up right underneath your pubic bone and then stays in by sitting on top of it. Just as in the instructions. (Videos and diagrams can help you orient yourself.) This is what keeps the disc right in place. Once you can identify how surprisingly “shallow” your pubic bone is to your V, it should slip right into place. I inserted it for the first time completely distracted and it went perfectly into place. I didn't struggle at all. I highly recommend a water-based lube, or my fav, coconut oil, to make the insertion a little easier. After inserting it for the first time (has never happened since), I experienced the mildest form of light headedness, similar to what I experienced during an IUD insertion. This can be normal and it’s called a vasovagal reaction. I just sat and waited until it passed and I was all set to go for 12 hours. Again, it hasn’t happened since the first time, I attribute part of it to jitters. Wearing it during the day was luxurious, I feel it less than a tampon. Genuinely, I don’t feel it at all. There’s no string that can cause irritation, and I was never worried about leakage. No odor. No concerns in a bathing suit. Admittedly, Ive forgotten it was even in and was late for draining. The only time i even think about it is when I'm putting it in or taking it out. By far the best, most comfortable, and most reliable period product I've tried. I still experience the same amount of cramping as I did before, but I’ve heard of others saying it helped theirs. That’s not my experience unfortunately. Removal….. this can absolutely be scary, and I even got worried myself the first time. It’s best to do it in the shower. The self emptying on the toilet works, I just prefer avoiding the mess entirely and time my showers. In my experience, there is some suctioning. The best advice I can give during removal is to remain relaxed and not tense up your body. If you can’t get it out the first few tries, do some breathing and go at it once you get your body relaxed and your confidence back up. It’s designed to come out and it will. Finding the lip on the disc may require some spinning. For me, the best way I have found to remove is getting down in a half squat position, feeling the lip of the disc, hooking it with your finger, and BEARING DOWN. I used all caps because mine does not come out without bearing down. Finding your pubic bone is helpful for this step as well because you won’t get the disc out by forcing against your bone, it has to glide around it. Once it’s out I rinse in the hot shower water and put it back in. I boil it prior to each period. There’s a technique with this product and every body is different, but I hope my experience can help someone else. There’s a learning curve to it, but I promise it’s worth the investment of your time and money. I haven’t picked up a tampon since using this product, and I’ve put a couple of my coworkers on it as well (they also love it). Other thoughts: - From an infection standpoint, this product seems much better to use than something that can harbor bacteria more easily, like tampons. - The disc may offer some help in women with mild urinary incontinence. I have occasional bladder spasms and I haven’t had one since using the disc. - I am not a doctor, and if you do have other inquiries, it’s always best to consult YOUR doctor. All in all, this is BY FAR my favorite period product and I will not be going back to anything else.
