Thunderclap Drums, METAL guitars, Steven Tyler screaming YAK-YAK-YAK, zero tender-celebrity-soul-singing
Although this is a collection of 70s classics, it was recorded during the early 80s when Aerosmith was striving for a METAL sound. As such, all their tunes live-sound production sounds DRASTICALLY different than on Live! Bootleg (recorded during their 70s) or their later live albums, which have a notable poppish-guitar-sound-quality.So, to recap, if you want to hear Aerosmith with a METAL sound, with THUNDERCLAP drumwork, and roaring amplified chainsaw-guitars, and all full of STEVEN TYLER'S YAK-YAK-YAK-YAK screams, then this is for YOU, because it rivals the music of AC/DC's BACK IN BLACK, or G-n-R's Appititie For Destruction. On the other hand, if you expect to hear Tyler's tender-celebrity-soul-singing that was made popular later, then you're going to absolutely HATE this album. (their classic hard-rock live sound is best from "Live! Bootleg" while their later celebrity-soulful-singing can be found live on the poppish Rockin'-The Joint. A Little South of Sanity is halfway between those two in style and time period.REPEAT: This is Aerosmith with METAL sounding guitars, drums and vocals. It also appears to include "Classics Live! 2" which use to be a totally seperate album, both of them released within a year so the record company could score twice as many sales.

Aerosmith - 'Classics Live! Complete' (Columbia)
I was nearly tap-dancing in the streets when I found this must-get live Aerosmith 2-fer-1 CD reissue. What makes this title (so much) of a got-to-have piece for me is that for some reason(s), I never did own a copy of the previous two live Aerosmith CD titles that this disc compiles - 'Classics Live' and it's follow-up 'Classics Live, Volume 2'. Two sources of this CD are unclear as to where these live gigs took place at. One notes that it consists of two shows from the Orpheum Theater in Boston as the second source reads these tunes were recorded at various shows over the years between 1977 to 1983. Guess it doesn't really matter because this live release is pretty much as good as it gets. Sound quality couldn't be better. Definitely, true-to-the root -live- Aerosmith. So highly recommended, it nearly makes my head hurt.

Back in the Saddle!
The bad boys of Boston are a rock and roll survival story. This collection comes mostly from their reunion shows with Perry and Whitford. The sound is a huge improvement over Live Bootleg and Baying at the Moon, the two other live Aerosmith albums from the classic years. The band sounds great, although the bass is mixed too low for my tastes. It's Steven Tyler who doesn't sound up to it. Normally the guy is an unstoppable force of singing, dancing, prancing, and entertaining, but not here. I guess those years of cocaine and cigarettes took a toll on his voice, because he sounds raspy and without his usual power. In many ways, this tour signaled the end of Aerosmith. They quickly morphed into a mega-selling pop band. This album comes from the moment just before they took the plunge into pure pop.

Another good live record
Another great live album from Aerosmith. Not quite up to par as Live Bootleg, but still good regardless. Recommended for any fan of this great American band.

Areosmith Live!!
This CD is a must have for any Aerosmith fan. The true essence of the band with all original members really shines through with the magical chemistry the exude when they play!! This CD I feel is much better than their recorded work on their '70's album 'Bootleg' as it has more of a "being there" ambiance of their actual concerts, and if you have ever been to one of them, then you are in for a real treat...it sounds like you are in the audience for sure. This CD mix is very good sounding and it sounds great at a louder than average volume. The band is actually making a comeback when it was recorded and it shows on this CD here. They have the hunger of a starving wolf on the prowl and when they pounce on their prey there is no mercy!! The attack and kill are imminent! For all you fans...Buy this one here, you won't regret it!!

Both Classics Live on 1 CD!
This mostly recorded during the mid 80's era with a couple tracks from the 70's and 1 studio track (Major Barbra) from the "Get Your Wings" sessions. This is a great set but get "Live Bootleg" (1978) first before getting this one and you're set with owning early Aerosmith rocking the crowds during their heyday!
