Can I wear these in the ocean?

These shoes are great in the water, hiking (short hike 5,6 miles), and everyday. I have worn kayaking many times. I have four pair of these sandals and where them all seasons (Florida).

What the W stands for? Is a different model?

I do see that there are the regular Whispers and the W. I’m not sure if that’s a newer model or if it’s for wider feet. I do notice the colors are different.

Could you place your orthotics in these with possibly placing something to help them stick on the bottom?

Because the tightness if the straps can be adjusted with an elastic cord so they are tighter or looser, I think, if the orthotic wasn't too thick, you could wear Whisper. I have had orthotics in my shoes before, although not with Whisper, so I think it might work. Rubber cement helped me stick my orthotic down. The bad side of rubber cement is that it didn't last forever but then I could get the orthotic out and use it in a different pair of shoes.

What is the sole made of? Is it plastic or suede? The is the part that's right next to the bottom of your foot. Thanks.

The sole is a soft yet sturdy plastic material. It is very supportive (like all keen shoes)- Next to the bottom of my foot is the soft plastic contoured foot pad.
