Functional and can't be chewed on...
We purchased this name plate because our little guy loved chewing on his previous name tag that hangs from the collar. This one attaches flat along the collar using rivets. It was not easy to get the rivets through the collar. The ends of the rivets are rather blunt. If they were pointed, it would be easier. Once I got them through, I used cardboard per the instructions to protect the heads of the rivets as I hammered them together (again, per the instructions). The heads are hollow and crushed in. There really isn't a way to prevent this that I could tell. It takes a certain amount of force for the rivets to work correctly and that amount of force is more than enough to crush the heads in. So while the tag is functional, it isn't as attractive as I would have wanted. Even with the crushed rivet heads, as last we can read it which is more than the previous tag after he chewed the writing off. I would recommend this if you need one mounted to the collar, just not if you care what the rivets look like.

The tag came reasonably quickly and attached easily And looks great!
We’ve tried a number of different ID tags for our Lab, from those hanging from a metal loop to those on a rubbery holder that loops through the collar. None have lasted more than a few months. We looked at those that are all metal that slide onto the collar but we use a thick leather collar and it seemed they only worked On the thin web or plastic collars.I then found this and decided to give it a try. I already had a leather hole punch so attaching it took about a minute. If you don’t have a leather punch a drill or a nail would work as well. The tag seems like it is permanently attached and looks like it came with the collar!I’ll update this review if there are any issues over time.

No more rattling dog tags
These are great. I riveted the tag and the county dog tag on my dog's collars. Used a pop rivet gun and aluminum washer on the inside collar side.

Great tag, rivets are just fine.
Lots of folks are saying the rivets are too short. I didnt have that problem at all. I made collars for my dogs out of belt weight, 9 oz, full grain leather. The leather is a solid 1/8 inch thick, and had plenty of rivet to go through the collar and tag.I was a little disappointed in the tag itself. It wasn't engraved, but rather laser etched. It will probably be ok because I went with the stainless steel rather than the softer brass. Just know it's not as dark and deep a mark as the pictures suggest. Over all, it's a good deal.

We get these for all our pets!
Ring tags can get snagged on branches or plants and come off, especially if your dog is running away from something. With these rivet-on tags, I can be sure that their information is always available if someone should find them! I like the curve in the plate, which nicely matches the curve of their necks. They're a little difficult to get on, but I don't really see any way around that for what it is. We've used about 8 of these, and only 1 had a rivet that came loose, which was likely due to mis-alignment on my part when installing it. One tag had a discrepancy on it, and when I brought it up to LuckyPet, they just sent me a new one right away! Excellent service!

Have purchased two: Durable, but installation may be difficult.
The installation isn't that easy. Cutting/punching holes into the collar is not an easy task, but once you can get the rivets through its smooth sailing. I suggest using scrap wood or cardboard against concrete/masonry to hammer the rivets into place. This seems to have held up the first couple weeks and I'm pleased with the low profile look and no more jingly jangles in the middle of the night when the dog gets up!UPDATE: I have now purchased two of these. They hold up well and last longer than the actual collar will. I wish there was a way to easily transfer from one collar to another, but I guess thats the nature of the beast. This time I used a wood buring tip/soldering iron to punch the holes in the collar and it was so much easier and less messy. I also used a pair of channel locks to punch the rivets together which worked like a charm! I will definitely buy another one the next time I need to replace my fur baby's collar!

Overall great look and perfect engraving, would recommend
So this was exactly what I was looking for and I think is a great fit, especially for thin collars. I paired it with this collar in Turquoise/Beige:https://amzn.to/2EWpeenThe engraving looks really nice and the brass finish matches the brass on the collar perfectly. I will say the rivets are quite short and this is a thick collar so you will either need a leather punch or I used a small drill bit to drill through the collar then tried hammering the ID into the rivets. I went 1 for 2 on this method and accidentally bent the one rivet. I am impressed though as it's staying on with one rivet thus far.Great tag, just be careful when dealing with a leather collar and don't hammer too hard as the rivets can and will bend.Hope this helps!

Item as expected.
I chose these tags for the manufactured curve to attach to my dog's "Dublin Dog" collar which is made of a flex plastic coated nylon and is already stiff in a curved shape. This collar is 0.25" thick. and I wasn't certain of a slide on tag style. I included pics of the collar unbuckled and buckled to show the curve of the collar with the curve of these tags. I like the brass tags as they have a classic dog tag look. The tags are engraved, not ink stamped like other tag makers. Hubby drilled pilot holes for the rivets, then inserted rivet through the tag front side, placed rivet backing onto backside of rivet post and with force, hammered down on the backside of post-backing to crimp the backing onto the post. **Note, be sure to use a hard surface working area and also use a towel or of like to place between the face of the tag and hard surface, to protect if from any scratching during the hammering down step.Am very happy with these tags. If wondering, no these do not ship prime 2day - as they are custom tags! But did arrive faster than the estimated delivery date given at checkout. Postage stamp read WA, so depending on where you are located, will affect your overall delivery date.
