RAzzle dazzle me this! Comparison to my other brand growler...
I already own a 128oz growler with a really nice durable handle in the 128oz size. I got it from REI. There was an extra accessory called a Keg top. I bought it along with the 12gram CO2 cartridges. Since the products nor my experiences with both companies were not perfect, I feel I can report on this in a unique way. I not comparing apples to oranges. I'm comparing full sized apples to really shiny tiny sized apples. Growlerwerks growler has a built in CO2 top and a gauge to help dial in the correct pressure to serve up your beverages. They also have a clear section where you can see the level of liquid inside instead of simply guessing. The spout pours out with a nice force. It's impressive to look at. It's lightweight and I love the shape and the vintage look. It came beautifully and safely packaged. There is no way it can get damaged in shipping. There is nothing I don't find pleasing to the eye about my growlerwerks. The Cons are that the generous amount of printed material that arrives with the unit doesn't say much...doesn't instruct very well and is hard to see. Except for the universal symbol that is usually on the knobs of coleman gas stoves and things like that, I wouldn't have known how to install the CO2 cartridge or be confident about what I was doing. It all turned out to be extremely easy although I really do worry about wearing out the threads on the the cap since you never feel a definite stopping point. I try to be careful not to over tighten it. The 8gram cartridge was only good for one single use plus running water through it (which you MUST do). You really don't have a way to measure how much gas is left in the tiny cartridge. Customer service never responded to my inquiry. I had concerns about trying the 12g cartridge in it and I felt the directions were unclear about whether or not I would need an adapter to use my 12gram cartridges. It's been nearly 2 weeks. They didn't bother to address my email. The other con is that it dripped quite a bit from the spout at first. I put a towel under it to catch it. My other growler drips all the time so I was kind of expecting it. My other growler with the keg top is huge! It has a wonderful handle and a more masculine appearance if you will. It's really durable with a powdercoat finish and 12g cartridges are more easily gotten at local stores than are the 8g. The cons are that it broke the very first time I used it. It was difficult at the campsite to keep up with the CO2 cartridge and filling adapter but I managed not to lose it. Although it said I only had to give the gas once, I had to constantly squirt gas in. The stem inside the nozzle on the inlet on the cap broke on my third time putting in more gas. It leaked constantly but I have to say I was soooooo happy with that growler UNTIL the plastic on the clamp that keeps the caps on broke off too! Customer service was so rude and passive aggressive. They didn't believe me that it broke even though I sent them a receipt of how I had ordered replacement parts for it. I had kept the broken piece for a while while they were considering what to do but by the time they asked me for a photo of the broken piece I had lost it. Needless to say customer service at both places kind of sucks. Customer service at REI is wonderful but I chose to report my bad experience to that company so that they could have the chance to improve the quality of their plastics. I eventually had to replace my 128oz growler from REI because of all the breaking plastic things. Even though customer service was hella rude and acknowledged nothing--apologized for nothing, they DID send me replacement parts for the cap as well as some CO2 cartridges and a little clip to help the hose from sagging and thus curb excess dripping. In conclusion, I wish I had purchased the 128oz growler from Growlerwerks. Even though their customer service is neglectful, I feel their product is going to outlast that of the competitor. I love the convenience of the built in CO2 cartridge as there is nothing to misplace! This growlerwerks handle is smaller so it fits better in my picnic backpack. I LOVE picnics! It oozes style and luxury. It's way more impressive than my other growler. Both have their uses but if I had it over again to do, I'd pick the Growlerwerks one even though it is pricier. Neither one are for people on a budget so I don't really think that should even be a factor.

Head-Turning Growler that gives you a perfect pour at Home or (wherever).
So, I am one of those persons that looks at a non-essential item for months reading about it, looking at videos, and then rationalizing in my own mind if I need it or not. This time was no different, for over a year I looked at this Growler by GrowlerWerks. Let me first tell you it is everything I expected to be... I was ready for some of the peculiar things associated with the growler. For instance, after you draw your beer, you will get a couple of drops that drip from the nozzle. Now to be clear this is not a defect, it is just that a couple of drops of beer or stay in the nozzle after the pour and you move the growler around will cause it to drip. No big deal, just place some paper towels and it will take care of that right nicely. The first time I walked into my local place that makes craft beer and fills growlers, a handful of the beer aficionados commented on my beautiful growler were asking me where I bought it from. I must admit, I puffed out my chest a lil with the pride that I felt setting up this beautifully crafted growler on the bar and getting all those compliments. Well, I had it filled with Texas Bock, brought it home, and set the pressure gauge to "5" as the easy-to-read instruction book indicated. I came back to it about 2 hours later after it was nice and cold in the fridge. BTW, the 64oz growler fits nicely in one of the side doors in my fridge (basically, it does not take up a lot of room). The first pour was almost flawless, as has been almost every pour after re-filling the growler a total of 3 times since I first received it. I love how you get the perfect head and each beer is icy-cold. Now, I do want to comment that the growler comes with only 2 8gr CO2 cartridges, while that is good to start out with if you like beer and plan on using the growler regularly, you are going to need more CO2 cartridges. I went ahead and ordered some Mr. Fizz (brand) CO2 cartridges from Amazon and now have a nice supply. Thus far, I have found that a cartridge will last about 1 fill and use of your growler. I use the last bit of the pressure in the cartridge to flush out the system when cleaning in between beer refills. So, after all this,,,,, was it worth it? You Bet! I had guests over a couple of nights ago and it was a hit! beautifully made, works as it should and you get to bring home your favorite beer! Having a growler is environmentally friendly since you use the same growler over and over and avoid throwing more cans and bottles into landfills. So, if I did not make it clear before, this growler is beautiful as well as functional. It will become a very fun and functional conversation piece in your house or backyard.

A Must For Craft Beer Lovers
I am absolutely delighted with this growler. i have a couple of glass ones and had also purchased two other gizmos to keep beer fresh in them. One was a special cap and a CO2 injector .... but that required taking off the cap to pour the next beer and losing all the CO2. Good idea if you just want to keep your beer fresh for a couple days before you drink it all. The other was a regulated cap with a tap hose and a CO2 dispenser that you could manually inject gas with. That worked better, but the CO2 pressure was all guesswork and the tap hose was lame. This thing is a work of art. Looks awesome, technical, functional, etc. Sight glass and pressure gauge are awesome elements. Regulator cap is worth the price. And the entire thing can be disassembled, overhauled, reassembled by following a whole bunch of maintenance videos on their site. Very, very well thought out and designed. A very manly product. Everyone that sees it is impressed. i've read all the negative reviews, and you can disregard them for several reasons: 1-Initial QC problems have now been resolved. The product is very high quality. 2-Follow the easy instructions, manual, and videos to avoid usage challenges. 3-Fill it exactly as shown in video and you will get 64oz and a good seal. Do something else and experience what the complainers experienced. 4-If it leaks, take it apart and overhaul it instead of whining. I typically sip from it slowly over a two week period between fills. No loss of freshness, pressure, carbonation, or anything. My only complaint is I missed the Kickstarter project ...... I'd love to have one of those special tap handles. If you don't have one yet ...... get one now.

Functioning unit delivered - great results!
I was nearly turned off by all of the negative feedback on this product, I will admit. But I also figured that Amazon has a great return policy in the event I purchased a growler with a manufacturing defect. This is a great gift for the beer-lover in your life! I was truly impressed with how cold the beer stayed and the level of carbonation. Flavor remained pure and bright on the IPAs for much longer than in the growler bottle. We've wanted a "keg-o-rater" for a long time, but haven't been able to justify the investment. This amazing growler fits the bill perfectly and accurately reflects our consumption. Now we can get a growler from the brewery once every couple of weeks without worrying that we have to drink the entire thing in one night. Love! Ease of assembly: it took probably five minutes out of the box. The number of pieces did appear a bit overwhelming at first, but the instructions were decent and we had it assembled in no time. Pro tip - make sure to pour your beer in the growler with enough time to let it rest. We got trigger happy and tried to pour a beer immediately to see how it functioned, and naturally that first pour was incredibly foamy. Let it settle for a couple hours before enjoying to maximize the usefulness of the growler. (I mean, if you plan to drink your purchased beer right away, what's really the point of a storage system like this one?) Is it worth the steep price tag? This growler is well-within the market we found. I worry about the price only because the number of people that have had problems with this particular brand. We, however, received a well-functioning unit, so I'd say it's worth it at this point. If you get one that doesn't work, I'd advise you to return and replace it with another. Because when functioning as it should be, as ours has done for the past few weeks, this growler is a game changer.

Great with some caveats
Starting using this for pre-conditioned homebrews. Haven't tried forcing carbonation as I still like the slight added sweetness from the priming sugar. This thing works very decent. If you want the texture of your carbonated brew on tap, as well as to keep things cold, this will do that. The quality is a mixed bag. Most of the ukeg is made with quality parts and materials that are easy to clean, but some are downright daffy. The tap feels loose, cheap, easy to break, and has a tendency to leak if not "locked" in position. The internal contraption that releases the CO2 works, but it's all plastic and rubber/silicone which will obviously need replacing after so many uses. The other thing that feels and operates inconsistent is the dial that controls the pressure. It too feels a bit cheap and is inconsistent in how much you need to turn it up or down to get the right psi. The main plus here, is that it does work as advertised and is probably the most mobile mini keg on the market and luckily the cheaper parts seem easy to replace. The guage also at least gives a big advantage in knowing how much psi there is at a given time. I don't like that it's not interchangeable with the NO2 version cartridges as I would love to try brews ntro style. It says in the booklet you can use them, but for flavor so I'm awfully confused about this. I hope to try some local breweries' on tap stuff so this will be great for those. Long story short, this is great but far from perfect. If you want a better tap to growler experience, this will certainly scratch that itch.

I've had this for about 48 hours now and can say I have no major issues to speak of. Within the first day I ran it through a couple of tests which I used water/CO2 cartridges (no way I was going to waste beer if there were leaks or unable to hold pressure.) Pressure is definitely not an issue as I set it for 10 PSI, ran through a couple pints, and it still maintained. Then did an over night test and it was still fine. Now I have put beer in it, since yesterday, ran through a couple glasses of it and again pressure is maintained. Now while no major leaks there is a leak when you depress the handle/right above the spout. Nothing major and I've reached out to Growlerwerks b/c based on design I think this might be expected to see some leakage. Here is a quick video showing it when I was using just water: https://youtu.be/41uT2_Z_K-Y Aesthetically it's 99% perfect. There are some tool marks but again nothing to be worried over. See the pics for yourself to make your own determination. When I took this to a local brewery everyone was like "What is this?", "That is awesome looking", "I want one" So yes, you could scrutinize over some small marks, but in reality most people don't notice them. And I knew first batches of anything from KS are usually beta at best with numerous things that get worked out. It's part of backing a project is that you are getting a first run of a product and there is potential for issues especially when you are dealing with overseas manufacturing. Also, I like many others, are a backer on Kickstarter. I knew going, in as I've funded many projects on KS, that when we get the reward could be a long wait. So being also impatient I went out and purchased this from Amazon for a premium. As to why Amazon got this before individual backers I can only assume they backed in bulk and were one of the first to do so. Again, I'm assuming but it is logical. Anyways, as of this writing I have zero regrets b/c I have a working and eye turning growler.

Works really well for force-carbonating home-brew
I bought this in early 2017, primarily to force carbonate home-brew. It works extremely well with no leaks, and it holds pressure perfectly. I have since moved onto 5-gallon kegs for force carbonating and use the uKeg for serving in my refrigerator and for transporting to share with others. I highly recommend watching the UKEG FIRST USE PRIMER video on the Growlerwerks website under the "How To" tab. Based on that content, I'm guessing there were some early manufacturing (no design) issues that led to some of the poor reviews/experiences by the very early adopters. I had none of the issues (that could have easily been corrected by following instructions in the video) addressed, but it was reassuring to know I received a perfect product. To force carbonate, I filled the growler using a bottling wand, then cooled the beer to about 40 degrees F. I then installed the cartridge and cap and opened the valve to full pressure. In a week I had perfectly carbonated amber ale. I then turned the pressure down to about 6 psi. I did have to use a second cartridge after drinking the first couple of pints. This is because force carbonating uses the majority of the first cartridge. If force-carbonating home-brew, I do recommend under-filling so there is more surface area for absorbing CO2. You can also rock the growler on it's side, back and forth, for 2 or 3 minutes to expedite carbonating the home-brew, like with any keg. After force carbonating, dispensing beer is just like any commercial beer you might fill the growler with. In that case, one cartridge is plenty for dispensing the full volume. Through all of this I had no leaks, and it held pressure flawlessly over the course of two weeks. I did get a drip or two every time I dispenses, This is because some beer get caught in the spigot. Just tilt the growler forward after pouring to dispense the captured couple of drops into you glass, or use a bar towel...or both. It's a non-issue for me, as this is an excellent product.

If you love craft beer and gadgets, this is a must have.
It arrived yesterday, without any notice. I wish I had known when it was shipping so I could have had the CO2 cartridges on hand (given some of the reviews I was hesitant to buy them in advance since it seemed like this were taking forever to get in the hands of beer drinkers). I found the CO2 cartridges today at Williams Sonoma and christened it. So far I can tell you that it looks beautiful (the bartender was amazed at it), it was designed very well and has a pretty cool steam punk look going for it and it matches up to the pics well. The construction feels solid as well. Filling it with beer and charging it with CO2 were simple. I had it pressurized at about 13 PSI but that was a bit much for the beer (a Christmas Ale with 7.4 ABV) and it came out of the spout with a bit too much head, that should be able to be adjusted fairly easily. It seems to hold pressure ok, but again this is only the first day of it being operational. I had it on the counter for about 4 hours and everything was still nice and cold. The tap drips a bit after use, but nothing excessive and it tapers off fairly quickly. Overall I am extremely happy with this-- it looks sharp and works great. Price is a little high, but you know that going in so I won't sign them for that. I'll get a few more if this one holds up well.

Great idea, hard to use in Ontario
Excellent product and performance, but is hard to find places to fill with beer in Ontario. Legislation is unclear regarding personal growlers for beer. For Brewery provided glass growlers, they should have the brand, label the content and álcool percentage. However, there's no clear statement about personal growlers. Some breweries fill it, some doesn't. I always carry it sanitized, visit the Brewery and ask.
