Great pro/intermediate arrangements. Tasteful. Readable.
Great. Tasteful. Beautiful harmonic movement. Rich chords. Pro will get much out of this. Church pianist and/or organist can use arrangements for preludes, interludes, Communion, postlude....great mix of moods, variety of songs. Enjoy! I have enjoyed it much.

Really enjoy these arrangements
Really enjoy these arrangements. For an early-advanced pianist, they are easily accessible with just enough challenges to be fun to play. Some of the arrangements have a "gospel"-ish flair, but not all of them. Good mix of the expected carols along with a few lesser-known pieces. I particularly enjoy the arrangement of "In the Deep Midwinter."

Great jazzy music
It was a great collection of songs. All with some jazzy beat. Loved playing the music. Excellent arrangements!

I wish it were spiral-bound.
The only problem I have with this book is that it is hard to keep open. I wish it were spiral-bound.

The classic melody and chord progressions are maintained. I really enjoy playing these.
These are not terribly difficult due to the classic melodies and chord progressions. Thus, it is easy to play them for pleasure just one month a year. They would also of course be nice for "cocktail party" or other party music.

Excellent arrangements - must have for Christmas
Excellent arrangements for Christmas. As others have stated they are very playable but sound great. A must have for Christmas. Very diverse arrangements; some are gospel like which I donโt normally like but sound good others are hauntingly beautiful.

Disappointed.
I'd classify myself as early advanced, and I acknowledge sight-reading is a strong suit. That said, I had no trouble with any of these arrangements. Other books in this series had at least a few pieces that required a little work on my part, so I admit I'm a bit let down. It's a fine book and will be a great addition to my holiday performance repertoire, just not quite what I expected based on the other reviews.

Christmas Carols with the Brent Edstrom Touch...
Hmmm, not sure why this book was not available from Amazon until 19th October 2015, as I was able to buy my copy through Amazon Marketplace several weeks ago! Still, at least you'll be able to buy a copy in good time for Christmas. Arranged by Brent Edstrom. Excellent jazzy arrangements of mostly well-known Christmas carols, for intermediate or better players. Proficient players should be able to sight-read many of the carols, but it doesn't make them any less enjoyable to play or to listen to. "Away in a Manger" isn't the tune I learnt at school (and prefer) - it's the Mueller melody, not the Kirkpatrick melody. But hey, that's nitpicking. Anyway, best put this book away 'til Christmas, because I'll be confusing the neighbours playing Carols in September. Buy this and "Christmas Songs" from the same series, and your Christmas will really go with a swing.........Song List:Angels From The Realms Of Glory (Tune Name: REGENT SQUARE)Angels We Have Heard On High (Tune Name: GLORIA)As With Gladness Men Of Old (Tune Name: DIX)Away In A Manger (Tune Name: MUELLER)Christ Was Born On Christmas DayCome, Thou Long-Expected Jesus (Tune Name: HYFRYDOL)Coventry CarolDeck The HallDing Dong!
