Love This Feeder!
I love this! I got this to assist in my cat's new diet. She eats way too much and too fast if I were to just leave out food while I go to work and sleep at night, and winds up meowing my ears off asking for more. I've had it set up for about 3 days now, and so far so good!! I think the quality is really great for a pet feeder, and the design is much more aesthetically pleasing than most others. It works well with the dry food I use, and is easy to set the timing and portions for each feeding. I was pleased to find that it isn't very loud when it dispenses the food, but maybe that varies by what food you use? The only thing about the time setting that isn't my favorite, is that it works on a 24-hour clock instead of 12, but we'll all live. It dispenses on the times that I set so I can't really complain! My cat has been very happy with it as well. She didn't get scared when it was time for it to pour the food, and hasn't tried putting her little paws up into the dispenser to try to get more. I installed the mischief guard just for the heck of it when I did the initial set up. From the top, just take out the bucket from the inside where you would pour the food into, and you can even take out the "lip" where the food falls off of at the bottom to better attach the guard once you have it folded up. I'll admit, the mischief guard is pretty cheap. It's a piece of plastic that you fold up to create it's shape, and it comes with double sided tape that you're supposed to use to attach it to that "lip" opening. This may not work for all cats depending on how much mischief they can cause when they demand food...I would be happier if this product didn't run off of batteries. Either a power cord that needs to constantly be plugged in, or an internal rechargeable option.I'm anxious to see if it gets clogged with food somehow like I've seen others mention in their reviews.Overall, I would recommend this feeder.

Adorable, Expensive, Disappointing.
Tl;drUnreliable for a couple nights away, even if you were to put 4 fresh D batteries in it.I was super poor when I bought two of these at around $100 each, because I was desperate; my cats were obsessed with food, hassling me whenever I walked near its storage space, which was unfortunate as my space was small, and they woke me up earlier and earlier each day, so I had to get out of the equation. In that regard, the feeders worked great. The downsides were:Each feeder required four D-sized batteries (non-rechargeable), and they ran down quickly.Feeders jammed very frequently, especially as batteries ran low (so, unreliable)Cat could steal food from machine no matter what.Small food pellets were even easier to steal from the feeder--they wanted to fall out. (I use science diet urinary tract health, which has fairly big pieces. It probably meant more jams but less thieving.)

Sturdy "bones" and user friendly software
Somebody gave it three stars because they said you had to unscrew the bottom to install the "mischief guard", but I didn't have to do that. You just have to pull the feeder bucket out from the top and install it. You do have to assemble the mischief guard, but that wasn't hard. I've had several automatic pet feeders over the years and this is FAR AND AWAY the best one.UPDATE 12/13/15: There is an issue with the feeder auger that will allow food to become trapped within the housing. It can be removed by pulling the food bin out, and dumping, but it needs to be redesigned to eliminate the open gap between the food slide and interior.UPDATE 12/26/16: It has turned out to be totally unreliable. Find another feeder. I will be throwing it away.

Great idea and we love it when it works
Great idea and we love it when it works. Keeps the cats from waking us up at 5 am and limits what they eat. The cats adjusted to it quickly and when they hear the noise they run to grab the food. Trouble is it is unreliable. It jams a lot and then won't work until you reset it, which we have to do a couple of times a week. Kitties get pretty grumpy when they have to skip a feeding because the machine is jammed.

The best feeder on the market at this moment (December 2015)
The only big negative -- I wish it had an option of a corded charger instead of batteries only. Otherwise, it is almost perfect. I tried so many automatic feeders available on the market, and they ranged from horrible to barely acceptable (and only because there were no other options). The biggest problems I had were a non secure top and a portion size. This feeder is the only one to dispense consistently small portions without any deviations. The top of the feeder is securely locked and cannot be flipped over.As other reviewers mentioned, a safe guard is not the best feature of this feeder, but at least it is an option.A note to people who may have a problem with batteries and feeder not turning on. There are two metal prongs inside of batteries compartment. In order for batteries to work properly, these prongs have to be at the angle so when you put batteries inside, the prongs push batteries to each other. One of the feeders we received had these prongs pushed to the right side (making them almost flat), and our feeder would not turn on. It was an easy fix, but we were very close to returning it before figuring out what was the problem. We have 3 of these feeders, and they all work perfectly so far.I never contacted the company for the support so I have no idea how responsive they are.Next version can benefit from the following:- charger as an option vs batteries only- an audible alarm or a different color light to announce that batteries are low- better safeguard- neutral colors- more than 3 times per day food scheduleAt the moment I highly recommend this product; there is nothing better on the market.
